How about back in 98, I saw a 98 cobra and a 98 eclipse spyder race, and you will be suprised that from the line to third gear they were neck to neck, then the cobra won, now imagine what a skyline would have done.
I vote they should have a world wide Auto challenge, where all car manufucturers race their car in stock form for bragging rights in thier repsective classes.

If domestic markets were as competitive as imports, we would never see all the shitty cars we see here every now and then. Look at toyota, nissan, honda, and mitsu, they have being competing for so long and we the consumer reap the benefits.

We all need to line up and kick Meat in the nuts just for being a jackass. There is no way that he beat a GTR Skyline with his Cobra. I raced a cobra in my non-turbo DOHC Stealth once and he didn't beat me that bad, so they aren't that fast. That Idea of "stock" car racing would deffinately do nothing but good for the auto industry. Although the US is finally starting to make some good cars like the new chevy cobalt that is coming out. A car the size of a cavalier but with a supercharger on it stock. And the Saturn Redline, the SRT-4 well I dont know if that one counts because its still a neon, but whatever it's fast. Now if the US would only make a fast rear wheel drive compact, that would be cool

You know the dumbest thing is that I smoked the shit out of a 98 Cobra with my 95 T-Ram, later I raced the new 00 Cobra, without the supercharge, he smoked me like hell, and that was cuz my T-ram had 95000 miles and his was new.
But what was embarrassing was we were both smoked by a TT Supra, and I am not talking of 5-10 car lengths, I am talking of being left behind with at least 1/8 of a mile, we ran for about 1.2 miles and we didn't see him till the next light. That ios why I ended up selling my Firebird, V8 6sp and I still got smoked by a I6. So screw him and his Bra, I will put him in his place with my Bird, all I have to do is borrow it from my neighbour.

Man, all this talk about what will beat what and everyone bashing each other with whatever arsenal they have really makes this a forum of fanatics. Smells good, don't it? Plus, nowadays, its pretty much the matter of who's driving and what you have done to the car. I don't know if anyone already said this, I just happen to come across this on the 4th page.

Cobra R's Are Hella Fast...... They Could Take A Stock Gtr Down. Hell With A Simple Pulley Change On The Cobra R It Would Walk All Over The Gtr. Just Because Its A Ford And It Doesn't Truely Live Up To The Original Mustangs Glory Doesn't Meen Its Not Fast.

Elenor Was A Gross Hp Rating.... Much Lower Than The New Cobra's Net Rating.

The R34 Gtr Puts Out About 350 Crank Hp Then It Transfers It To 4 Wheels Through A Dog Box..... Which I'm Sorry Is Extremely Strong But A Bit More Restrictive (because Of Gear Design) Than A Standard Transmission.

The Cobra R Would Compete With A Skyline Gtr Of Any Year.

Dude you just proved my point, You were talking about the Cobra R which is a better class of mustang, and it has the same 0-60mph as the stock R34, why not compare the R to the V-spec R34???? and don't forget the skyline is still under that stupid rule that Japan limitted it's cars to like is it 290hp. Motorex said it best, all they needed was a screw driver and a hand held gizmo and they punched out 400hp from changing factory specs. At 400hp out of a stock R34 the Cobra R will be screwed, killed, ran over and basically FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!
Plain and simple the cobra cannot compete with a skyline, it is outclassed, I am not an import or domestic fanatic I just like any car that can fullfill my need for speed be it Ford, Nissan, Chevy or even a freaking geo, if it looks and drives good to my specs I like it.
I could kill a Cobra easy with my T-bird all day, Me and the 00' Cobra were totaly put in our place by the Supra, so you can imagine what a skyline would have done to us????
And watch what you say about Elenor, she was a GODESS of her Time and still is, even import nuts and tons of ricer will agree, She is a queen in her own right. now leave it at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NUFFF SAID.

But On An Equal Token You Really Think Ford Let Out All The Juice Of The Cobra Or Cobra R? The Cobra R And Cobra Are The Same Car With Out The Racing Suspension Package..... The Cobra Out Handles A Stock R34 Gtr By Alot And The R Is Even More. Supras Are Faster And Out Handle A Gtr Stock For Stock. Seriously, You Are Trying To Talk Down On A Car That Is On Par Or Better Than A Car You Enjoy.

And I Love The Original Gt500's And Fastback Elenor Editions But They Are Not That Great To Today's Standards And The Comment Made About It Was Untrue In Its Fullest.

Dude you are LOST, almost convienced me (not), till you said the R and regular SVT are almost the same, I've loved the R since it first came out, and you can't fool me on that one. The R and SVT are two TOTALLY different cars, they share the body, chassy (except for some light weight mods on the R) and the tranny, but thats where it ends. The N/A V8 in the R is the same as the one in the Lincoln navigator with a revised intake manifold, the interior was stripped. The R put out 395hp, they say with better head work it would have been capable of more than 430hp, but ford cheaped out and just used a stock block with better engine management. They could have done some good engineering and achieved even better results with the 4.6, but I know for a damn fact, Ford is very cheap, they love to use engines they already have instead of building a new engine for a car. When they need more power, they just go get a bigger engine from a truck or SUV and there you go, CHEAP HORSE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason for this argument is really not the power either is putting, my opinion is the R34 is made a whole lot better than the Cobra, and it shows, and still the GTR is faster, a cobra CANNOT defeat a v-spec GTR, go play GT3. You go do a pulley change on your R and let some idiot retune the GTR and tell me who reaches the finish line first, OH and by the way, the Supra can never out handle a skyline, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even in the GT Races, the skyline killed most near anything, it was left racing porches and ferraris, even the saleen was killed, incase you missed that, KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would wish to have an original Cobra R, and also a V-spec GTR and almost 50 other cars from elenor to ferrari, but give respect where it is due. Even in the GT classes, ford has been loosing, Viper and Vette have been killing everyone else, they smoked the porches, but the porches killed the saleens, and the same porches were killed by the skylines. It isn't a shame to loose to a Skyline whether you got a porche or vette, IT IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF ALMOST ANY ENTHUSIAST.

Seriously This Is A Never Ending Arguement.... Why Because Mod For Mod The Cobra Still Comes Out On Top. Arizona Speed And Marine Just Did A Svt Cobra Retune And Got 75hp And 85 Ft-lbs Just With The Computer Alone. Then They Added Exhaust, Intake , And Pullies And Re-tuned And Got 35 More Hp And Ft-lbs. The Svt And R Are The Same Car With Suspension Mods And Slight Body/interior Differences. The Motors Are The Same Breed But Like You Said The Motor Comes From A Navi In The R.... And It Makes 15 More Hp Than Stock.

Ford Product Quality Is Top Notch When It Comes To Cars... Its The Trucks That Have Problems. All The Track Testing Numbers On The Skyline Say Differently Than The Svt And R Cobras. Now The V-spec And V-spec Ii Are A Completely Different Story.... Those Have Major Differences Over The Stock Cars And Will Out Perform The Cobras.
