Which of you kits are you afraid of building...

My Monogram Duesenberg SJ. I want it to be almost perfect. Also my Tamiya AMG S600 Coupe. I've had it for a loooong time but I'm too scared to even remove the shrinkwrap!!

Bah! Always remove the shrinkwrap FIRST thing.

1. You can make sure it has all the parts

2. You can play with all the parts.

3. You can cut most of the parts off the sprues.

4. You can bag the decals

5. You can lose the instructions.

6. You can post asking if someone can scan you a copy of the instructions.

7. You can post asking if someone has the part you lost by cutting it off the sprue before you actually need it.

8. Did I mention you can play with it?

p.s. When removing the shrinkwrap, cut a line from each corner to the other corner on the bottom of the box, making an "X". Then remove the top with the shrinkwrap still attached and fold the flaps of the shrinkwrap under and tape thm to the inside of the box. VOILA'! Shrinkwrap still protects the pretty Tamiya/Fujimi/etc artwork and you can get into the box without removing it!

I read a lot about the kit and the building process and saw a lot of finished ones herer at AF an judged that yet I am not capable of doing it.

Defenetly my Fujimi Countach lp 400. Just looking at the instructions makes me shaky..

anything that has a model kit 'number' that begins with "EM-".....
the best i've managed so far, is to put together the engine of the lp400.

also, i have an old revell 365 boxer that i can't bring myself to start.
it was cheap but so hard to find.
all i've done to it is remove the mold lines, some flash, and sanded/shaved the two parts for a better fit....

Seriously, this kit was the 2nd model I made in my life (years ago!)... And I managed to finish it, even if the result can make one laugh.. or cry!

Take your time: the number of parts is not a problem. The only things you really need to take care of are:
1- the doors (bad moldeled, really need scratchbuilding to look right...), and
2- the suspension: difficult to have a good sitting of the car. +: I experienced a problem with the "transmission arms" (those pieces that go from the engine to the center of the rear wheels... ), And I needed to cut them for about 1-2 mm... ++: the whole thing is very fragile and brakes easily.

Conclusion: this build is a true pleasure from begining to the end! Go on! ()

I'm honestly scared to start my Revell Tony Nancy 22JR dragster double kit. I love the way the rail looks, it's so pretty, and I know exactly how I'll build it, but damned if that multi-piece body and that multi-tube frame don't spook me.

And, though I don't own one now, those Model Factory Hiro Ferrari 512M's terrify me.

I am scared to start on my tamiya supra.... because i am planing to do it custom and i have never built tamiya cars before.. and not japs to... so i am scared to start putting putty on..... and for the second i hate sanding!!!!

and i am also scared of finishing my shelby series 1. because i have putted so mutch effort in to it and i am afraid to ruin my work with paint.....................

Opened the box twice after getting it, and put it down again after reading throught the instructions.
I am afraid of messing it up so I got 2 kits. This was before knowing about the re-issue.

I just bought the Tamiya yellow Enzo at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 of it's $50.99 sticker price! Well... the scary part is the amount of aftermarket detail stuff on the market and the prices! At the very least I'll buy the CD and a PE set.

There are a number of kits that I have, occasionally have a look at and then put aside for "later"

These include:
Some Gunze 1/24 high tech kits, the Lotus BRM, the E-Type, the Cobra coupe and the Triumph TR3.
Very fearful indeed is the Protar 1/12 MP4/2C in metal.

Fortunately there are lots of other kits in store, I only hope I'll have enough life left to build them.

p.s.: Somebody mentioned the Ferrari 512 (Heller/Union/Protar), you should try it, it's a wonderful kit. There are other classic Heller kits that are really worth the try as is the Union P4, also a Heller tooling.
