To me, the difference between the two here is like, you're at the gym, one guy slowly benches 350lb... in the same time another guy benches 159lb. several times... crunch the numers, they made the same amount of power (power is a function of force, distance(which is the same for both guys) and time). So now it's all about how you want to make your power... I know which guy I'd rather be.

thanks. i am not a ricer imo. i am infact a tech for honda but i am honestly ignorant when it comes to domestic land. i truely love the v8 and the joy of driving one. but i love my honda just the same. to each his own, right? honestly no war starting i wanted to know the reason for bashing.
and i do understand that if i spent the same amount of money on a 350, i would be a much higher time. and the cost i spent to swap my motor?$2000 canadian so really not that much. its really a stock motor right now with some nitrous that got me into the 13's so again room for improvement like internals,turbo. if you want to see my car, well i will post a pic and you decide if its rice or not. most people i talk to around here dont think it is.

those brakes are the biggest i can really get with those rims. they are from an integra. slotted/cross drilled with carbon kevlar pads. plenty good. 11.5inches. stock is just over 10inch. remember my car wieghs just over 2000lbs.

that is so true, reminds me of the funny day on the stop light of some blue ricer with a lots of stickers that say "zero to sixty" everywhere and then, i was in my camaro i honked the horn(on the red light) he opened the window(with knobs ) and i said in about an hour? and he said back so fast(must've been used to hearing something bad about his stickers) he said lets race, and then i went off and he was looking at about 3 cars back taillights

The gears I pulled those times off with were highway gears - it was practically a two gear quarter mile with third kicking in at the last second. Matter of fact, with those gears the car used to hit 240 kph (150 MPH) at 6000 RPM in 3rd.

Second, you've got to remember that you're comparing your little Civic to a 1580 Kg car (3,480 LBS) - add a lean 173 lbs with me in the car.

And I'll say straight up that my car is not stock either - she's actually fairly modded with a cam, ignition, ECU module, pulleys, and yer regular bolt ons (intake/exhaust). Fact is the car has big time problems hooking, and my only two times at the track I simply didn't know what I was doing! I wondered why the track guys were waving me out of the burnout puddle each time I went to get my street tires wet. Who knows, maybe thats why the tranny mount popped coming out of the burnout puddle the first trip out, and why the clutches in the posi were burned out the second time I hit the strip.

I know everybody loves hearing sad excuse stories from the track - but honestly both times out was for fun. I didn't try to gain as many tenths as I could, like these other dudes who had their cars interior stripped, hoods off, and pushed their cars to the line. Me, I can't be bothered to pull out my dual 12" subbox or 35lb amp or CD collection to get every last gram out of the car - I actually discovered that the car ran faster with the tank full than when empty ... because the bitch could finally hookup.

Anyways, driving a Camaro is all about the image - like 89IROC nicely put, its about the sound ... and the feel. Import cars can be (and some definitely are) very very powerful. But its a totally different kind of power from a V8. Most import motors whether they be n/a, turbo, etc... start making their power way up in the RPM range. Most guys with econoboxes have to drop a gear and get to 5000 RPM just to keep moving forward up a hill, with traffic. You really appreciate how effortlessly a V8 can move a 3500 lb car up a hill at 35 MPH in 4th gear - with the tach barely moving above 2000 RPM. And it also happens to be around the RPM's where the engine sounds the best.

What else can I say? Take a look at the sig pick and check out the aerodynamics of the car - its a bullet. Speed aside, we're comparing a long, low, & wide "sports car" to a boxy, shorter, higher, and lighter economy car. The fact that you've got your Civic under 14's is cool. I mean hey, I could perform a "simple" (?) engine swap with my parents Montana minivan - ya, ditch the 3.4L and borrow the GTP's supercharged 3800 V6, I mean this is like an afternoon mod right? Would be one fast minivan that could do awesome burnouts - which IS cool (I'm not being a dick) - but its still a minivan. I wouldn't exactly start looking down on my Z after that.

Needless to say I cannot wait to hit the strip with a working posi differential this time, new gears, and a new found sense of what I'm doing. Hypsi you can bet I'm gonna try out yer little tire psi trick, and be sure to stay out of the damn puddle this time!

EDIT: Personally, I like the older Civics (like the mid 90's?) when they first rounded them off, and especially when they look otherwise stock with just a nice set of rims and a low key exhaust. I'd like to ditch the Impreza beater for a nice Civic as my daily driver...




... with a 50 HP shot of juice of course!!

ya i was gunna say wtf 13.8 with your mods? and 3.73 i thought that would get your into low 13s for sure
