Cool

All of the chases mentioned were good but the the best were:

1, Gone in 60 secs (The origional)
2, The Gumball rally (427 Cobra Vs farrari Daytona)
3, Vanishing point (mopar heaven)

My Favorites

Blues Brothers (and can ID almost every part of Chicago it was shot in).

Ronin - They actually chased in the Paris Tunnel that Princess Di died in

Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) - Sorry, but 40 minutes and 93 cars wrecked beats all. Plus the main star did the stunts himself.

The Rock - The F355 chase was phat

The Driver - Chevy Pickup versus Firebird. The wild thing was that the p/u was hanging in there.

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry

The 7 Ups

The French Connection

There is a site that has a list of the best movie Car Chases. www.carchasefan.com

My vote would have to be "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" .. made in about 1962. The whole movie is a car chase, those old cars lean like hell on the corners, and the stunts are pretty gutsy by any measure.

Other obscure car-chase movies to watch out for in the bargain-basement section of your local video store include:

'White Line Fever'
with James Taylor (can't act for nuts) and that Beach Boys drummer guy. Features a '55 Chev 454, a plus is Warren Oates in a GTO Pontiac 455.

'The Man from Hong Kong'
truly appalling movie only saved by a great chase scene, in which the asian star does a total 'Banzai' and wrecks a brand new (aussie) Charger .. along with anything else unfortunate enough to be sharing the road that day.

'Breathless' (the remake, with Richard Gere)
not a chase movie as such, but good for perving at cars; those shapely models are beautiful, as is the younger Natasha Kinski ... :licker:

I'll just chime in quickly. I really do like the Ronin chase scenes because there's no computer trickery. that and I haven't seen many of the other movies... :P

Hahahaha! I just saw this the other day while flipping through the channels. I thought it was a joke. It's from The Dead Pool, I think. Totally hilarious!!

I haven't seen The Rat Race, Gang$tarr .. but the original is a terrific movie.
Being a comedy is a plus, also that Chryco supplied many of the cars, so there's fins and Virgil Exner style thru-out.

Featured actors include Spencer Tracy, Mickey Rooney through to the wonderful Phil Silvers in a '46-48 Ford Convertible (which becomes an automotive Titanic) plus cameo appearances galore.

Definately worth a look!

Hey

heh, they werent designed for speed, and I would like to know what the hell they did to it to make it go that fast anyways? they must have took out some weight and dropped in something with like 600hp, or done some sweet video editing.

My vote is for Gone in 60 Seconds. Sure the jump may have looked fake, but there were some pretty realistic parts, compared to the rock (a ferrari going at it with a hummer?)

I think someone forgot to mention the chase scene from the original gone in 60 seconds. Well, that scene sucked, but no one mentioned it. Well, it didn't suck that much. C'mon, a 71 Ford Mustang Mach 1 vs a ford Montigo? it makes for some good racin.

My favourite is Ronin, in the chase where Diedre, Gregor and the goofy Irish guy are in the 5-series getting away from Sam and Vincent in the Peugeot 406, there was a lot of destruction there...........

I actually prefered the chase with the S8, just because of that car! I want one!
