You arrange the meeting and I'll be there to take the pictures.

EDIT: I found more info on the F50 GTs:

Quote:
Dellara built five tubs, three were assembled and completed by Michelotto. Ferrari canceled the program when they learned that Porsche had circumvented the FIA's rules governing the construction of the race version vs production version. Simply put; Ferrari's converted race car was never going to be a serious opposition to Porsches purpose built race car. Trust me, I have had examples of both and raced / driven against each on the track.

001 went to Art.

002 went to Okamoto.

003 went to Spiro and then our auction company sold it to Peter Floyd.

It would be pure magic for the two remaining tubs to be completed as finished cars. Two years ago, Ferrari was forced in a lawsuit to destroy both remaining tubs. Details of which I am not at liberty to discuss.

Sufice to say the F50GT program is long over.
So I guess it was not Ferrari who had the remaining tubs destroyed. That leaves me wondering who initiated it and why it happened?? It also seems to dispute that there would have ever been a 6th tub built.

That info was posted in a thread on FerrariChat.com - if you click on this link you can read it for yourself. There are several posts in the thread from very knowledgeable people. Understand that their old message board had posts start at the bottom and newer replies on top so it reads backwards.

There's also a thread linked from that one which identifies the driver who wrecked F50 GT #001 as "Porsche factory driver Johannes Von Overbeck. He was one of the drivers of the Racers Group Porsche that won at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. He fractured a couple of ribs and a leg."

Here are those images I mentioned a few times earlier. This is s/n 003 and they were taken at the showroom where the car was stored while it 'lived' in Australia.

WARNING: These images are HUGE @ 1600x1200 and approximately 1.5MB each. If you have a slow connection they will be very slow to DL.

These shots were taken by someone else and are a bit better quality, but slightly smaller.

Considering there are only 3 F50 GTs, you might be surprised to learn I have just over 200 unique images of the 3 cars. It should be no surprise that it is one of my favorites as well. I hope I get the chance to see one in person someday. I missed out when it was unveiled by Ferrari of Beverly Hills several years back.

That would have been this same car that you saw actually, as Symbolic handled the car in between Spiro and the auction as described in the above quoted text from FerrariChat.

The tubs were destroyed becuase when ferrari sold 001 they said there wouldn't be another, then 002 came, and 003. The owners sued ferrari for a contract breach or something like that. Ferrari were then forced to destroy them

Someone may know more than me....

Re: Favourite car??

Cool video drPhibes. Would you happen to have the whole video, or just that small clip?

I took it from a recent episode of "5th gear". the car was filmed at the ferrari factory when they went to modena with an englishman who was buying a ferrari f1 2001.

the complete episode available here: http://torrents.viper007bond.com/gea...03.avi.torrent - if you don't know how to use bittorrent, see this guide: http://mrtwig.net/i.php?p=btguide

Re: Favourite car??

I'd probably have to go with the Murcielago.

It doesn't matter to me if it can't compare with the McLaren F1, Koenigsegg, Enzo etc. The Murci is beautiful.

This is difficult for me as the 6-10 changes constantly.
1-5 is quite constant.

1.McLaren F1/LM/GT/GTR in a class of it's own
2.Ferrari F50GT
3.Vector W8
4.Enzo Ferrari
5.TVR speed12
6.Mercedes SLR McLaren
7.Koenigsegg CCR
8.Ferrari 550/575
9.Lamborghini Diablo 6.0
10.Pagani Zonda
