personally, i wouldnt spend anymore than $40 on an intake, and you can have a vr4 catback for less than 100 and its proven to give gains because of less bends and a bigger diameter

the vr-4 catback bolts right on, thats why i recommended it, i have plenty of N/A friends who did that and said they felt a noticable gain from the car. Also, thats why you dont see many threads about VR-4s getting catbacks because the stock catbacks are pretty damn good compared to most other cars catbacks.

i'd have to say a modded 2002ish corvette, i let him off the line first because i didnt know if he was gonna go, and i started pullin him in 3rd

other than that, i took out a trans am, supercharged 5.0 stang pretty badly at the track, uhmm, beat a VR-4 pretty badly on an interstate run (the thread is somewhere on the first page), took out a modded dsm turbo, thats all i can think off the top of my head

Re: 3000GT's very own Off-Topic Thread!

if i were you id hold on to your money until you can get a custom exhaust built, its cheaper flows way more than a stock vr-4's and sounds better (well thats up to your selection) get the fipk and a testpipe

off the line, no
from a roll, yes

i've raced my buddies vr-4 from a stop (him- 12 psi, open intake, gutted precats), he got me from a dig but i caught him
and i trap higher in the 1/8 than my other buddies BPU RT/TT
and that highway pull i made with a stock VR-4 where i kept pulling away until i decided to shut down at 150 (my 4th gear is geared almost the same as a 1st gens 5th gear, and our final drives are very very close)
FWD drivetrain loss is awesome, it just sucks off the line

I would say get the TT Borla if you have the cash but keep in mind the cheapest you will find it for will be about 600$. No cutting is required, only a slight bend in one spot to make it fit around something. Probably getting the K&N FIPK and a Test Pipe like someone else said would produce the best gain for the money.
