obviously, none of them were realistic, but not many movies are.
1. fast and furious-mostly because I prefer the plot and types of cars 2. Gone in 60 seconds- fun, but cheesy 3. Driven- good special effects, but so corny it's almost unwatchable. |

here we go again
umm, it's just a 67 mustang with foglights and shelby tail lights, nothing special. the car probably had a real 427 in it though, and the sound clips weren't takin' from a real gt500...they are the same car that is shown in the movie.
and a number's matching gt500 is worth 100000 dollars, why would you wanna spend 2 hours smashing up a car worth more than the average jaguar and twice as rare as a 4 assed monkey? no wonder they used a fake. and fast and furious had a horrible misinterpretation of the import scene. i have never scene so many imports in my life in one area, that is most definitely NOT the way it happens. if you had that many cars in one area it would take less than 15 minutes before half of the cars were on tow trucks heading towards impound lots waiting for a hefty fine to be tacked on to them.

they asked import guys to turn up at the scene everyone in the area got excited and turned out to see so thats why there is so many. But massive turn outs for cruises have happened in England ... altho this is the US and that doesn't really happen
i still hate fast and the furious for its BS dialogue

gone in 60 seconds has blown the GT 500 way out of proportion... most, in that good of condition, are worth 60,000 at the most.

My opinnion is that THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS is the best racing movie, yet. Gone in 60 seconds is good, but not enough.
Days of thunder?...good joke.I didn't like that movie at all! What do you really know about NOS? Is it safe? Is it dangerous? Does it really make the difference or it's just a joke? |

okay...
okay, umm, fast and furious was the most unrealistic car-related movie ever produced, if you think any different you must be smoking pot.
what do i know about nitrous oxide, (or NOS as you call it) hmm... nitrous oxide (n2o is the scientific name) is composed of two parts nitrogen (n2) and one part oxygen (o). It was first used in dentist's office's for general anesthetic purposes and also used as a power-adder for world war 2 fighter planes. It is stored at around 1000 psi in a container ranging from 2 fluid oz to 15 lbs, and an optimum temperature of about 100 degrees farenheit is required to maintain the proper pressures. nitrous oxide in itself is not flammable, non explosive and isn't even poisonous. note : in the movie fast and fruitless, vin diesel screams 'naws' to indicate the danger the two men were facing with the flaming eclipse. in reality the bottle(s) might explode due to the extreme pressures, but they would not combust and make a green flame such as in the movie. when the nitrous button is activated, (which is sometimes a two or three part system...some systems include switches to make sure the oil/fuel pressure is up to par before powering up the system, other switches to make sure the throttle is wide open, and than finally the switch that activates it at the driver's leisure) fast moving, high pressure solenoids (two in most cases, one for the nitrous and in most vehicles one for the extra fuel required when nitrous is being sent through the system. note: most fuel injected vehicles will actually introduce more fuel into the system automatically as soon as the nitrous is also allowed to flow, eleminating the need for the fuel solenoid.) flutter open at high speeds and the nitrous flows into the intake system. The nitrous is stored as a liquid in the high pressure bottle, but as soon as it meets with the low(er) pressures in the intake manifold the nitrous boils to a gas and the heat energy used when the nitrous boils brings the n2o charge to approximately negative 273 degrees farenheit. this is the first part of the power adding aspect of nitrous, because cooling the intake charge has an adverse effect on the power output of the engine. the second stage is the actual injection of the nitrous into the combustion chamber. as the nitrous enters the cylinder, the high heat of combustion releases the oxygen molecules from the n2o compound. the extra oxygen mixes with the extra fuel that was introduced, creating a more powerful explosion when the mixture is ignited. thus, more cylinder pressure is present, and the engine produces more horsepower. there, that should be enough to satisfy your nos needs. with a properly built engine and a safely regulated system, power increases of 100% over n.a. power are attainable with laughing gas.

Nice Chebbie :)
Well, it's nice to know that at least some people here know what their talking about chebbie. That really got me when it start burning green, because neither oxygen nor nitrogen burn green(and as you said, combined they just don't burn). Also, when the tank blew the Nitrous would have vaporized and therefore caused a mushroom cloud effect(if it actually did ignite) not coated the hood like in the movie.
Oh yeah, and this is kinda off topic but i was just wondering, what company made the Satellite? Because i gotta admit, it's probably the only muscle car that I had never had even the slightest clue existed until i saw yours.

Plymouth made it. It was called the Satellite Commando. It was made around the mid-60's. Yeah man there not very common, but pretty powerful!
Just to clear some things up, the mustang in gone in 60 sec. was made to be a GT500, It was not a real one. It is not even a correct replica, it had a speacial kit made with little itegrated fog lights, and other crap. They made 3 or 4 of them for obvious reasons. The director took one home, the rest were sold to various collectors. P.S.>There is one thing all these movies have in common....."they are all MOVIES!!!" They are made to entertain, they are not documentaries. If you want something realistic make a documentary on street racing! So, no more arguing over this crap...Thread Over!

If Gone in 60 seconds was a bad movie(okay as car movies go), then the fast and the furious made me violently ill. Not to say anything bad about the whole tuner car scene, but that movies was just god awful. There were some nice cars in it, but I could count them on my hands.
The storyline was ridiculous, the plot was nearly as thick as octane booster, and the acting was of a quality I would expect from old kung fu movies. As for Inital D, I am busy watching the first stage! Man, thats some good anime!
