What's up guys? I own a 2K GT-S, and I love it! Believe me this car is quite quick for it's class!! With only a Cold air intake, I have been able to pull of 14.8's in the quarter mile. It has enough power to take Mustang GT's! I raced a 95 GT at the strip and took him by about 4 tenths of a second. I know the Celica is no match for the new GT's but it can take out the 94-98 stangs.
Here are a couple pics of my ride: ![]() ![]()

Sweet, no? Any car that's got OEM quality modifications (and plenty of it too) should be noted and taken seriously. I've seen too many cars with cheap mods that need to be replaced every 2 years because of the poor craftsmanship.
I should have created a separate thread for the Celica TRD Sports M; seems like no one else is making responses to this excellent production machine. However, I am going to make a new thread for the TRD Rod Millen 'Ultimate Celica'. |

German or even european cars are nice, nicely expencive. love the way they look and drive but not too many people can affored one.this is where Japan comes in. Just for fun lets use Toyota
. Now lets take a relitivly new Celica supra make a few minor engine adjustments slap a TRD racing suspetion and to make things intristing rig it wit NOS. wheredidi get this idea? Fast and the furious. Now granted they used 150,000 to sup that huge piece of mechinary up, the car will take a stock porsh.

Well, it doesn't take $150,000 to built a "10-second" Supra from the ground up. Hell, it doesn't even take a 10-second Supra to waste a 996 Turbo. But if funding allowed, I would still take the Porsche. There is much more behind the emblem than raw horsepower and all wheel-drive.

the car could take a porsche? um no, it would DESTROY a porsche (well not a 911 turbo, but every other one) i bet it would be hard competition for a 911 turbo
That car is a Ferrari killer.... in real life the supra would have beat that Ferrari by waaaaay more than it did in the movie, but i guess they didn't want to make the Ferrari look tooooo bad

While on the topic of who's beating who and "movie magic", you all remember Gone in 60 Seconds, right? What was up with the 996 Carrera staying only a few feet ahead of the Civic (possibly Si)? Okay, considering that the Honda WAS an Si (stick 'n stock, other than simple bolt-ons, like the usually are) they would be pretty even for the initial 50 ft. scramble, but afterwards at highway speeds and beyond, the sheer displacement of the Porsche should have flung itself at least a few car lengths away from the Honda. I doubt the Civic had any type of forced induction (did you hear any turbine associated noises?) and it never even broke traction (truly high-powered front wheel-drivers are always loose). Even if the director wanted to maintain the image of a 'heated battle', there shouldn't have been this harsh misrepresentation of reality. (Of course, they were probably both going no more than 30mph, with camera trailers attached on various sides for the numerous angles--Hollywood is STILL fake to me.) MOST of the spoiler donned street legal econoboxes have too much bark without the bite to back it up. The scene from this motion picture has eternally placed a slight dent in Porsche's door, and for all time it will remain unforgiven.

well i am glad you all agree with me. but to give porcha a little bit of credit there is more behind the car then speed. the interior and exterior are buitiful. i would love to own one.( If i could ever affored it) Its a good thing i care more about speed and performance though. its nice that on my budget i can affored a very nice and guick car. and for about a tenth of the cost of a porcha.
Now for movies nothing is too far fetched for them to do. take a look at the ending to planet of the apes. i mean what the hell was up with that. any more hollywood is about big explosions and or corney love scenes. The fast and the furios was one of the few movies that i have seen recently and said to myself, ya that seems true. too bad more cant be like that. |

comparing a modded supra to a modded civic is like comparing a Porsche 911 to a Chevy Malibu

Likely reason why not many new Celica owners posting in this forum is that they are on dedicated new Celica sites such as; www.newcelica.org (really good site/forum) or www.celica.net etc.
I am lucky enough to own the new Celica, and I'm a very satisfied with the car. Great looks on the outside, sporty interior, great handling and good power potential to make it faster. (I'm waiting for the TRD NA 230Hp engine package to crack the Celica in to the 13's for 1/4 mile.) Jason |

That is true. Most celica enthusasits are on newcelica.org; nextcelica.net; celica.net
180 horses may not seem like a lot, but remember that the car only weighs about 2500 lbs, which gives it one of the best horsepower/weight ratio's in its class. A 6 speed gt-s is quite fast, and if driven properly (launch at 4k, rev to 8300) it can beat out cars that appear to be faster on paper. I love it! |
