AWD is okay. The new STI's variable AWD is awesome. However, nothing can truely beat a good RWD car.

A joint effort by Mitsubishi (three diamonds) and the Chrysler Corporation (penta-star) to build some of the most incredible automobiles in the world. The vehicles were produced with the names Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. DSM cars are assembled in Normal, Illinois. The '94-and-up Mitsubishi Galant is also assembled at the DSM plant in IL; previous Galant's were assembled in Japan. The Eclipse and Galant (since '89) share the same platform.

well um, no..you're actually misreading there...because i never insinuated only muscle cars drag race. we were talking about muscle cars. that one guy said something about making a muscle car FWD and I said that would be pointless and stupid because most people with muscle cars drag race. and i later went on to say FWD isn't the best candidate for racing (drag racing) then i said 'but i'm not saying FWD cars can't race' so i'm not sure what you're talking about.

FWD doesn't necessarily have to suck - ever drive a 1970 W series Olds Toronado with a high output 455 in it. My parents bought one new - didn't even realize what it was. The thing was one hell of a dragracer from light to light. It didn't corner worth a damn, even with its F41 suspension, but, in a straight line it got to its 112mph top end very quickly.

True actually I prefer the diamond window Riviera on the same chassis, it's more asthetically pleasing car. You're right, however that had a strong longitudal driveline with a tranfer case not a transverse engine with a transaxel held together with a few tiny bolts. You're correct it doesn't have to but for the most part it does. By the way I've seen someone use that set up from an Olds to put a 455 in an old Porche, and not only did it run faster it got better gas mileage!?

One of the local hot rodders here built a beautiful 1940 Olds coupe with a Toronado 455 front drive set-up in it. Being lighter than the original donor car, the thing was a guided missle on wheels.

I'd like you to meet me on my '03 civic type R on a track and say another time FWD SUCKS....
hahahaha.

In the end fwd isn't surely the better choose for performances but a 200-250hp FWD car can make bigger and more horsepowered cars on short tracks and mountain roads.

It has it's advantages surely, economically I'd take it anyday. Better gas mileage, cheaper and quicker way to build a car, It's just when it comes to performance I don't care for it. Besides there's only a handful of front drivers I like.

I'd wrather have RWD. If not that, then AWD. At the least(and last) being FWD. I really don't mind it, but if I had to have them in order, that's what it would be. Everything can made to be fast, its just the ways you go about it might change a little bit.

lol you apprently don't know too much about Back and Mountain road racing... espicially in the Rain... I've ran against, or with all.. RWD can't hookup easly and gets loose in corners and hard to control pitch with.. AWD looses traction in all 4 tires and understeers a bunch and Driftin it's even harder... Left Foot Braking is all I got to say.. removes most understeer, or you can just inertia or brake drift in the rain with an FF.. I do...
