Re: Video:Turbo SE-R vs Supercharged Sunfire

Sweet vid. Both of you guys definitely know how to drive. That launch was impeccable. I think the Sunfire had a slight lead at first (Probably due to lag), but your car is probably more powerful, or lighter.

Doesn't Neut's Cougar have a Duratec?

Run him over, Neut!

No, the V6 is the Duratec, and the four cylinder all aluminum engine is a Duratec. However, Neutrino's car is the cast iron block/aluminum head Zetec four cylinder.

So, run over Carrnutt!

Oh I thought he had a real car, with the V6 at least...

I'm not worried about him running me over - he'd have to catch me first!

Oh yes now I see the light, Autox is for losers. So I'll buy an civic, drop in a b18C1 with a T4 turbo and a Motec sytem exaust and I'll live my life a quarter mile at a time.

PS. It was my impression that, Formula Ford, Cosworth Racing, Esslinger etc. did not find the engine that worthless.

Re: Video:Turbo SE-R vs Supercharged Sunfire

I'd take the ecotec over the Zetec ford engine. The ecotec can be amped up to ridiculous levels of performance (900 horsepower i believe on forged internals). I didn't know that the zetec engine was used in the Cosworth?

No its never been used by cosworth in WRC for over 15 years, and the Meguiar focus is not powered by an esslinger build zetec with around 1000Hp.

But its more fun to asume its crap.

http://www.meguiars.com/ford_focus/index.cfm
http://www.focuscosworth.co.uk/news/...ialrelease.htm

or how about here(list of F1 cars from 92-99):
http://www.euronet.nl/users/guidof/h_cars.html

Look for benneton, sauber, minardi, lotus and a few others

so yes I would say that the involvement of cosworth and zetec engines is quite famous

Re: Video:Turbo SE-R vs Supercharged Sunfire

Dude, I was kidding. Jeesh. And yes, I know all about the Zetec's origins from Cosworth.

Still doesn't change the fact that it's an underpowered motor in a heavy chassis. Ever driven a Classic SE-R in auto-X?

I'm also basing my little joke from an encounter I had a while back, which I never posted here. It was against a 4-cyl Cougar that kept trying to get in front of me in traffic, and started annoying me. After we both caught the same light finally, he decided to drag me and -- it wasn't pretty.

At least I hope it was a 4-cyl...

Hey thanks, nobody's ever told me I'm good racer. It's nice to hear. Your definitely right about the Sunfire driver tho, he is just as good/maybe better of a driver than me. As for the cars, his is probably a good bit more powerful and much more tourqey but the reason I won is mostly due to my gearing and high redline. Also, if you'll notice...my car didn't run a 13.6 as quoted in my sig. It was at about 6400ft above sea level so the official NHRA time correction is to add about 1.2 seconds to the et. That's why it looks much more like a high 14 run.

He didn't necessarily beat you driving wise. Superchargers have something turbos typically don't have, which is torque down low. His car probably has over 200 ft. lbs. at 2,500 rpms and above (I'm guessing). Turbos have to spool up. I imagien that you are not launching that that high of rpms (Not on street tires). Also turbos typically do better as speeds progress, unless he has a centrifugal style supercharger.

I'm just sick of people bitcing about my car. Constantly people just love to tell me how its a POS and somehow its worthless to AutoX. All this from people that never raced once in their lives. I'm not sure what their problem since I never brag about my car and I'm very aware of its limitations.

So now I log on AF and in some random thread, I see my car brough up again. This is why I got iritated.

I happen to think that no car is worthless for autox, heck I'll take a geo metro and race it. At the point where I am I go autox-ing to improve myself, and any car will teach you something. My car for example has a fairly narrow powerband, understeers like a mother and even has the ocasional nasty snap oversteer. So it forces me to overcome this obstacles. It is also fully devoid of electronic help(yes not even ABS).

Despite all that and the fact that I run on 205, 60 profile all seazon tires and basically 0 mods, In my first autox i managed to almost equal the time of a guy(whose been there before) with an RSX type S running low profile yokohama avs100 tires, and i'm in most autox'es not more that 2-3 seconds behind my friend with a 5.0 extensivelly moded and I mean extensivelly. So either I drive like a psycho or my car is not such a terrible platform after all. You can confirm my times with polygon if you would like.

And I have been in a Classic SE-R in an autox course. One of the guys that i often hang around(because he's among the most knowlegeable) at autox meetings is running an SE-R like yours. So yes I'm very aware on its capabilities.

Hopefully soon as rumor goes we'll be getting the Evo Mr in the states, so I'm saving up to get that since I never tried an AWD car before. That should be an interesting experience.

That's funny you say that, considering the SR20 motor in that Sentra has been boosted to as high as 700+ HP, and the GM four-bangers have been taken to the drag-strip with as much as 1,000HP.

The vid is gone, but the posts in this old thread should give you an idea: 1991 Sentra vs 2003 Cobra

Don't knock anything you have NO clue about man. It just makes you look ignorant.
