Anyone ever see the '59 Skyline GTR?..I have a book(encyclopedia) on cars and it shows a '59 Skyline in there..Interesting pic i must say..looks similar to the ones posted above by Igor..That is a classic look of a japanese old school car,Fender mounted mirrors, and a little side flairing..

Skyline History ('59 and '71 GT-R) and my fav

I thought the first was '66? I'm certain in that time frame, between 67 and 69, that the "prince" car manufacturer, not Nissan, was making the Skyline and then folded/was acquired by Nissan.
This site has a pretty good, nearly complete history of the Skyline.

http://homepages.tig.com.au/~robs/kevspage4.htm.

My favorite? Not sure. R33 most likely. Which one I'd more likely have/build if it were my real $$$ buying/building it? Maybe a DR30 or HR31 in RWD only configuration with a RB25 or RB26 modded to 450-600RWHP.

I'd like to see the straight 6 stay in the GT-R. Maybe they can do a GT-R king of the hill TTv8 and keep a rb series motor in another model. My bet is a R35 in V8TT form won't be cheap, and I think the 800, 900, 1000HP+++ potential of the RB series is plenty for those of us that stray from the factory state of tune.

See my post in the "who currently owns a gt-r" thread at http://64.177.245.211/vbulletin/show...3?threadid=311 for maybe a few more of my ideas/preferences if you care. (Page 2 I think)

I know I'm late, but I'm sure no one will mind...

I like the R33 the best. The first version, without the extra holes in the front bumper. I think I like the interior of the R34 better, though... Aww, hell, they're all too good!

R32, gunmetal. How could there be any other choice?

There are several reasons why I like R32 best but the most important one is how it dominated on track and made Skyline GT-R a legend. Its history is something R33 and R34 don't have. Improvements they have over R32, if any, are not that significant that they would matter. Not to me anyway.

As far as looks go: R32, R34, R33.

R 34 looks awesome in a kick butt way! But then again, if a car looks like this, am I to complain?

I've always loved the R34 and I'll continue to love it i just think it looks more smooth and agressive than the others (not counting the R35 cause we don't really know that's what it's gunna look like)

Any Skyline will do for me. I like the R34 the most tho. What I love about the Skylines is that it has that attitude about it. It has that "Yes, I may be Japanese, but I will totally trash you in whatever you're in. And even if I lose by some freak accident, I'll still look good." It's has that aggressive "Don't freak (edited, sorry!) with me!" look. That's why I like Japanese sports cars (read: turbocharged fourwheel drive monsters!), especially the Skyline.

to R33

I'm speechless after seeing the pic of your car. I can't say it's "beautiful" because it's too aggressive to be beautiful, but I can't say it's "aggressive" because it's too beautiful to be aggressive. I guess the best I can describe your car is
IT'S FREAKIN BAD-ASS!!!!

I had always preferred the R34 over the R33 (because I saw more pics of the R34 than the R33), but after seeing your car, I'm totally torn between the two of them.

If it's left to me, I would buy all three! Each of them has that somethins special lookwise and performance wise. But the 34 takes the cake in the look department. The 32 is also awesome with that classic 60's kinda way. The 33 suffers from the middle child syndrome - neither here nor there both in term of look and performance. But hey, a GTR is always a GTR and I am not complaining. I dunno about other countries, but here in M'sia, GTR owners respect each other and there is this unwritten rule that a 32 owner will bow to a 33 owner and a 33 owner will do so to a 34 owner! We may chase each other on the road or track, but at thye end of ythe day, the 34 owner will always have this respectful gestures from the 33 or 32 owner.
And Lauren, thanks for the freak out comment! I tell you Lauren, go and take a second mortgage on whatever valuables you have and buy the GTR, regardless of the model, IT IS TOTALLY FREAKIN WORTH IT!:badass: :aug2:

I'm definitely partial to the R34. I've got a hand-built model of one on my desk, and guess which car I race with on Gran Turismo 3 - Vspec?? That R35 looks kinda funky, to me. Sorta like a Chrysler! In a word - BLEAAAGGHH!!
