Yeah... it wasn't too expensive for me to put on a glasspack, and take out the catalytic converter... a good cat and good muffler would be several hundred dollars... plus there'd be no guarantee it'd sound nice and loud. Most people don't put exhaust systems on Nissan trucks.

Re: I want louder exhaust

Rid yourself of the catalytic convertor(s). Get a full exhaust and downpipe. Or just run open downpipe, but I don't recommend that seeing as it really isn't legal.

Re: I want louder exhaust

open down pipe is loud as hell at anything over 1500 rpm, you would want to shoot yourself from the noise if you did that

here is a realated post from the honda forum if you want to see my louder than hell exhaust post

What's open down pipe? Would there be any difference if you cut off your exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter... as opposed to running no catalytic converter, no muffler, just straight pipe out the back? Would the extra 4-5 feet of pipe muffle the sound some?

I'm assuming you have an N/A motor. Running open downpipe is doing exactly what you said. It will be extremely loud on an N/A motor as compared to a turbocharged vehicle. The downpipe is the pipe from the exhaust manifold (I think) on an N/A motor. On a turbo motor it's connected to the turbo. With the mandrel bent welding, it provides back pressure for more flow which is very important in a turbocharged car. If you just want it loud, then run open downpipe. If it's too loud just do a full exhaust with a 3" downpipe and a test pipe (test pipe replaces catalytic convertors). I don't know much about N/A cars though...

What's N/A?
In the place of my catalytic convertor I have a straight pipe, 2" I think, same as the rest of my piping... and then Flowtech Red Hot glasspack muffler near the back. It's not that loud at idle... but pretty loud when revving it... but at idle it's basically the same as when I had the stock catalytic converter with my glasspack.

N/A means naturally aspirated, "all motor." All I can tell you is either make the piping larger (3" or bigger) or just run open downpipe. I would also suggest if you do run open downpipe to keep the muffler connected so cops cannot tell you're running open downpipe.
