Re: Beat a Vette with my civic a few nights ago
You ran a 15.3 and beat a Vette?
My 5400lb pick up ran a 15.4 with 31" tires, and I know I CAN'T beat a Vette. Want to race my truck? lol Danny

wow this is getting retarded. I have alot of money into my civic and alot of you guys still dont belive it can beat a stock vette, and i even provided you guys with the performance figures to show you that the stock vettes are not even that quick at all. if this was a LS1 obviosly i would of been way in the dust but it was a L98 vette, nothing special. I beat the vette im not gonna sit here and lie to you guys and make up stories.

dude I beleive you, and for you red Z28, I drive one of the most respected cars around here. Knoxville,TN and cherokee, NC, and everywhere in between. I have a RHD JDM Honda Integra with all sorts of spoon and custom goodies. If you are ever in the Great Smoky Mountian national park and see me. If you fell froggy enough just challence and well race in the twisty in the mountians, and I'll stomp your ass. even in the 1 foot deep snow in the winter.

Also, remember those questions I asked as far as the method of importation you went through, and how you were able to register the car in the US without a VIN?

I don't doubt the guy beat an older pre-90's C4 Vette, possibly a mid-80's automatic with lots of miles. I worked with a guy back in high school whose Dad had a white '85 (I think) convertible - I could swear it was an '85 but it had a four-barrel carb. Slowest V8 powered car I have ever been in next to my other buddy's Dad's 190 HP '86 2-tonne Trans-Am GTA with a 350 four-barrel (automatic as well). Shit, my old man's 1980 350 4-barrel Cutlas was faster than either of these cars - with our entire family packed in it!
Just look how fast and how light ALL of the new cars are these days. Think about it. 10 years ago the only non-Vette/Porsche type cars that could pull off flat 14 sec quarters were the new 4th gen F-Bodies. Now, factory Dodge Neon's are pulling off flat 14's! Is anyone old enough to remember what kind of power the market was putting into the boats back in the 80's? (or how ugly almost everything looked!). Biggest deception about the Vettes is that their fiberglass bodys don't show rust like others - so you could be next to an 80's Corvette that looks in good shape but is totally over the hill. But enough taking away/over analyzing this kill - the dude said he beat an 80's-1990 C4 Vette. I'm giving him props. |

Re: Beat a Vette with my civic a few nights ago
Good lord I wish I could have gotten in on that SuperGT convo... I HATE people like that. I am glad to see that some people with domestic V8 cars can be reasonable, I just don't get it sometimes when people get their panties all up in a wad about one is better than the other blah blah blah...
On a slight side note, I don't remember what mag it was but I was standing in Autozone looking at a mag while I waited for someone and it had an article comparing a WRX STI and a Cobra Mustang... it was interesting what they found. has anyone else seen that article? it just kind of goes to show you that a small engine car CAN in fact run with the big dogs...

Re: Re: Beat a Vette with my civic a few nights ago
yeah but when they are running properly they are faster than people give them credit. i have an 85 and stock it killed civics and integras. now that i have some bolt ons its even quicker. you are right about them being driven into the ground most of the time though
