Yes, I'm very aware that fast imports are cool. Any little 4 banger that does 9 second quarter miles is bad ass. But the fact still remains that they need an absurd amount of money put in to them to make them that fast. And most people don't have that kind of money to make them actually fast. That explains why 90% of imports are a joke. That was the point of my last posts.

I have lived in Iwakuni Japan for the last 12 years. I speak and read japanese, and own a car dealership who primarily supplies cars to military personnel to base people near here. I do a lot of tuning out of my store, both on location and via contract. Shacho from HKS Hiroshima Service was a good friend of mine until he succumed to heart failure two years ago. Shacho from HKS Kitakyushu is a friend of mine now, and he provides me with techinal support on anything I need. I am an authourized Sard, Greddy, Defi, and zero sports outlet. I have owned about 20 cars that are not readily available in the US. I have had from a EP82 Toyota starlet GT (imagine turbo civic), so and zenki s-14 k's with a tdo6 turbine, 2 r32 GTRS (got 3 right now for sale 10 meters from my door), an old school toyotal carina with a to4s turbine running about 400 rwhp (car is a 1980). I am basically self taught, sped 14 hours a day 6 days a week living in japan working on JDM (what would be your import) tuning cars.

Japanese never bitch about having an American car around. If you notice a shortage of old impalas and the like it is beacuse they are buying them up like hotcakes and bringing them over here. At the races on friday night (a place called sagatas, just south of hiroshima city) There were 4 Ferraris racing (360 modena, 355 berlinetta, a 348? (never seen that on before), and a testarossa. There was a guy with a turbocharged chevy s10 (rb25det). It was about 3 feet off the damn ground. There were type r's, evos (we got all 8 of them here) wrx's, sylivias, and even little 660 cc k cars (one of which was puching a whopping 190 rwhp). There was a corvette, a mustang (87 old skool with the t-tops my personal fav).
But you know what? There was a lack of shit talking. None of this hoda sucks, american cars suck, suvs suck. there cars are dented and scraped from hard riding. Some are dressed up, some look stock. But every car fits into a class and races or runs with that class. A few hybrids run with the other classes, but NO ONE TALKS SHIT ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES RIDES!

Basically: Get over it. Ride with your friends, stay away from shit talkers. A group will quickly push out the unwanted, and the most of them will take the hint. Your biggest fear shoud be those who want to make all cars 0lev and the like. If you like cars, look for something good in all of them. If you like just your car, drive by buildings with mirrored glass so you can see how cool you look in your ride. But if you just like to bitch and complain, park the car in your driveway, get a nice cup of coffee, log on to the forum and bitch. Because the negativity here keeps us all from looking at your scowling face and hearing you insults out there.

Whoever says imports cost more money to build than domestics does'nt know much about imports.

$10,000 can get you a 12 second (maybe faster) Eclipse. With $10,000 you can probably build an American car to do the same 1/4-mile times.

With $1,500 you can build a Civic that does 14's.

I've said it a million times...if you're so concerned with dollar to performance ratio...then get a motorcycle. They're cheaper and faster right? You prefer a slower/more expensive car over a motorcycle because you're more comfortable (SP?) with a car than a motorcycle. Well...I'm more comfortable with a "slower/more expensive" Japanese car instead of an American car.
