Yeah, my girlfriend at the time was Christine (yes, same name as my cousin)... at that big house with the long driveway. Yeah, that night. The one you said was hot.

I myself, personally, if I ever got another hood, CF or otherwsie, would get a Kaminari one...they have a design that absolutly kicks ass, of course, it costs an arm and a leg too, but qaulity costs money, so there you go, lol. Anyways, I am glad your hood and trunk worked out well....post the pics when you get em.

instead of them using my stock hood they just put on my old carbon fiber hood so i think they straightend the frame out to fit the old hood which was a little messed up (which i'm thinking about selling it for really cheap since it's not bad at all, so if anyone is interested let me know...all it needs is a slight repair on the corner and clear coat)

my trunk fits great and i'm STILL happy with what i got now nobody has told me what they think about pearling Carbon Fiber? i am still thinking about getting it done.

Pearl CF hoods look good... if done right. I've seen a nice blue car that had a blue pearled CF hood, and blue pearl tire shine! Looked really nice!

I've seen cars that it works on, and others it didn't look so hot. Depends on the car I guess. I'm guessing it'll cost a little more trhan it would just to get the hood repainted and a quality paint place. Good luck on it eitherway you go. I'm dying to see how it all looks on there.

not trying to steal the thread nut maybe you guys can clear something up since you are on the subject? I heard somewhere that carbon fiber hoods are illegal on the street is this true? I live in new york so i think we are about the same as Cali. If this is the case i would assume its one of those things that cops don't worry too much about unless they wanna break your balls? or just a pain for inspections..?

i live in california and in the past year i was pulled over twice. one for a bull$%# speeding ticket when i was in the car pool lane where the whole time there was the same vehicle in front of me and another behind me. i got another for speeding 6 months later on, and yes this time i was, but anyway, the officers never said anything about my hood at all. one did mention that my exhaust wasn't supposed to be there since it was an aftermarket, what was ironic was that the catback exhaust system is from greddy which is 50 state legal. go figure.

i think the main point they stress though is to make sure the hood is properly secured since this can be a hazard if your c/f hood just flies on your engine bay on to the traffic flow. since my hood is extremely light in comparison to the stock hood, when drivng on the highway i can see my c/f hood wobble due to the oncoming wind. this isn't a terrible wobble like its about to fly off i just want to mention, but still wobble nonetheless. its just natural since of course from its light weight. on really windy days, i do kinda get paranoid but nothing never happens.

Re: what is the best carbon fiber hood?

okay okay i know this answer since this shit happened to me...

Alright you said you think the reason cops stress about Carbon Fiber hoods is because they worry that we don't properly secure the hood...wrong! This is why we have hood pins. To prevent the hood from flying up on us!
The real reason cops stress about carbon fiber hoods is because they believe that if you have a carbon fiber hood then you are street racing! i got pulled over one night when i was at the local hang out and a cop thought i was going to race since i had a hood and gave me a ticket for everything he possibly could. so cops think you are a street racer if you have a hood on and will give you a hard time if he is an ass!

u didn't answer the guy's question. i didn't answer his either, but i did tell him my personal experience and they did not give me a ticket for the c/f hood. i guess u didn't know this, but not all c/f hoods require hood pins only some who doesn't have a latch or they feel that the latch is not strong enough to secure the hood down. i got a vis hood and they do not require hood pins at all. i got some hood pins before my purchase of the hood but after getting it, i discovered it's not required so why put it on, unless of course i want it for appearance?

after driven by many police vehicles and officers in parking lots, not to mention the two experience i had, my inference would be that they are not illegal. also about the hoods flying off, this is what fiber images told me whereas vis told me it was optional and they also told me a simliar story. they explain to me this is one of the reasons thiers is better than the competitors since it doesn't need the pins. so whose wrong? just because u have a c/f hood doesn't make it illegal, it just make u any easier target to pinpoint for illegal modifications, but if your abiding the speed limit and and following all laws they can't do anything. i also know this from personal experience, one day i was driving home not speeding or anything, and out of nowhere an officer on a motorcycle was riding next to my right blind spot. he came slowly forward at the same time glancing at my car and of course my hood, then slowly went back towards my bumper while staying on the right of my next lane. what he was doing i bet any money was he scanning for anything illegal so he can pull me over and look for more. after a couple of minutes and no evidence he finally decided to leave me alone and drive off.

if a cop does pull u over to check your car out, then that is harrassment. a similar analogy would be pulling over a black driver to make sure he isn't a criminal. if they do pull u over and u do have lets say an illegal turbo or anything else then this can be a very thin line, but something tells it's in the favor of the officer.

Re: what is the best carbon fiber hood?

I was just giving him my personal experience too about what happened to me when i heard what happened to you. I had to put my in. I don't think they are really that illegal either or something cops are that concerned with, but i'm just saying what an officer told me when i was parked in a parking lot hanging out with my friends drinking starbucks coffee. I wasn't doing anything to make him want to find out who's car that was and he ended up giving me 4 tickets. And about what you said about if you're not doing anything wrong then cops wont bother you...gosh where do you live because if that's the case i'm moving out there. Cops forever get on peoples case here and if you lived here in rockville, md then you know that all cops here are pain in the ass and get you for everything.
About the hood pins being required, i know that not all hoods require them...i don't have them on my car because i'm not to crazy about the way it looks! And trust me i've done my share of high speed on the high way and my hood never moved or made me think it was going to fly up on me! Alright well i'm not trying to come across as being a bitch, but i just want you to know what happened to me! i guess it's just different locations and where about you live....

Re: Re: what is the best carbon fiber hood?

right now im currently living in pittsburg, california which is in the bay area, and no the cops never really give me a hard time. this doesn't mean though that they never did, let me explain.

i used to lived in oceanside (southern california), about 2 years ago and the highway patrol would pulled me over several times. hopefully u know why, this is where the import racing scene started up ,and alot of them were asian. but to go on, i was getting really freaken annoyed with them stopping me to find nothing. i came to the conclusion that they were profiling me as a certain type of individual: i have an import car (acura integra), it is lowered, and im of asian heritage. after awhile it was getting ludicris, but then i figured, i don't really care how much they are profiling me, but in order for me to be pulled over, they better have concrete evidence and not some stereotype. i was even about to go to the legal office to find out more about this subject and to understand my rights, but unfortunately i never had the time. my service time with the marine corps was up (thank god, three days after getting out congress ordered a stop-clause, this order haults any military personnel from being discharged and for the corps specifically, preparation for war is imminent), the main focus at that time was getting ready to move back to my hometown to start school again.

believe me, if my time there was longer i would have definately gotten legal advise, and how to handle the situation better. after all, i wasn't doing anything wrong, and after they did inspect my car, their evaluation always came out empty. presently, there are some mods, but all of them are either 50 state legal or carb certified so they still can't get me .

oh one more thing, ur hood must be heavy then if it doesn't wobble, maybe a better word for it would be an up and down motion. mine weighs about 15 to 20 lbs, i can pick the entire hood up with only one arm. so of course when the wind hit it at high speed especially when the latch is on the spring loaded release lever it's going to have that effect due to it weight. still, i do get paranoid on occasions, kinda reminds me of that panel tom hanks used as a sail until it got blown away by a gust of wind in the movie castaway.

Re: what is the best carbon fiber hood?

i know how you feel, i took my 4 tickets (which were for my tint, my suspension, stickers on my window advertising for Teckademics, and no front plate) so i took it to court since i was pretty pissed off and they dropped it because in the state of maryland which i'm sure this goes for every state but i was happy to find out that a cop can not give you any kind of ticket if you are parked or not moving...haha i'm sure the cop felt pretty stupid. i don't know why he even bothered! who knows what he was thinking...i don't care since i got out of them, but still i get harrassed by cops all the time and it's so annoying. i really don't have anything crazy done to my car! the only thing really i can get introuble for is my suspension and my tint...BIG DEAL! it's my problem if i want to fuck up my front lip or under my car and the tint...well i just don't like the loser guys here in maryland staring at me.

About my hood i think it weighs about 10-12 pounds. it's really light i'm a weak person and i can lift that sucker up by myself hehe! But i don't have that problem that you have....that's interesting!

Re: Re: what is the best carbon fiber hood?

well they can if it was a parking ticket. j/k
but yes for this they can

about the hood, try looking at it when ur at 60 mph or higher especially when ur coming down a hill. people never really focus on something until someone mentions it.

Does anyone know the quality of the hood from JDMshit.com? I'm hearing that ViS is one of the best carbon fiber manufacturer out there right now.

how do u think the quality of jdmshit.com would be like? j/k i don't know, never heard of it. for your moneys worth, i say vis, but the best carbon fiber hood goes to fiber images. i seen them put their hood down on the ground and have some one jump on it. they even had a tire dropped on it and a car ran over it, the aftermath? nothing, it was still the same .
