Re: what do you all think about Tokyo Xetreme Racer 3?

Its 1242, the best engine, turbo L6 (V8 has more power, less accel) cost about 70k, Lvl8 engine tune it like, what, 160k and pumps out 100 less hp?

I put a Turbo V8 in my FD3S. 742 Hp. 220 or so top speed , but thats all I need. Finished the game out with it , now I'm just going back to clean up the Wanderers. Bought the Ford GT just for fun , I wanna see what the engine swaps are for it.
Also got my Subaru XT past the 1242 mile limit , and it also now has a Turbo V8. Interesting that they both have the same CC , but the RX7s puts out little over 1/2 again the Hp. Don't get the logic on that.
The game's got a lot more cheatingness to it than TXRZero ever did. You can cruise all day at 200 mph , and don't heat up , but as soon as you challenge someone and race them , you start to heat up. And the higher the level of the vehicle you are racing , the faster you heat up. Pretty damn stupid if you asked me.

Re: what do you all think about Tokyo Xetreme Racer 3?

turbo V8 has high power but low accel, go back to the turbo L6! and when you remove a rotary from an RX7, its no longer an RX7...
The engines are the same for every car, but depending on the car, its hp will be different. After all, you dont want a turbo V8 Cappuchino on the streets do you? the car weights about 500kg and if it has 750 hp...
you get the point

Yeah , takes all the fun out of putting BIG engines in small cars.

Oh , and tried the turbo L6. Not NEARLY as fast in the top end. I change my gear ratios to suit the engine , so there isn't much difference in acceleration by the time I get done. The turbo V8 is not good up by redline , so I raise (numerically lower) my gear ratios to suit it. The Ford GT REALLY hates redline , so I cranked the final drive down into the low 2.00s. Hits 220 in 10 seconds or so. Once you go V8 , you never go back.

This game is fun, as well as challenging. I only have 5 cars(FTO, GTO MR, Mustang Mach 1, Pantera GTS, and the Ridox Supra[Expensive as hell, can't buy new parts, but can be tuned to reach favorable speeds]) and most of the races are very fun. I have a question though: Has anyone managed to fine tune the transmission for the Mach 1? It's pissing me off that I can't seem to find the right ratios and I love this car . if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I tuned up a Mach 1. Got it to go about 200 mph or so , even with the 4 spd. Just remember the big motors don't like to rev , so drop the final drive and gear ratios. I had the gear ratios cranked all the way down , and the final drive in the mid/high 2.00s. Pretty much the same formula I used with the Ford GT.
Might as well pitch that Ridox Supra , a tuned regular Supra will blow it away. Pretty much the same with any of the "Special" cars.
I liked the Pantera , but the Ford GT is a lot more stable and has an extra gear.
Pick up an FD3S RX7 , I finished the game with mine. Runs like hell in the corners.

Thanks for the advice man. I'm still in the process of fine tuning the Ridox though.

Initial D style, I presume?

Yeah , drifting is very much a part of the game , although you can tune the cars to grip if you prefer it. At least its not as bad as Auto-Modellista , where drifting was both impossible to perform properly AND the only way cars could be driven.

Little more advice on gear ratio choices. It seems the final drive only goes as low as 2.50 , so set that there on the Mach 1. I set 1st gear high , good for over 100 mph by itself. 2nd 3rd and 4th gears , I set 2nd to its highest setting (farthest left) , and set 2nd and 3rd one tick each to the right , basically making this a close ratio tranny. The Mach 1 tops out about 207 like this , and doesn't take long to get there , which should be plenty for most races. It also sticks quite well in the corners with no camber and toe adjustments , surprising for the big car that it is.
My cars so far: Subaru XT(turbo V8 swap ) , FD3S RX7 (same) , Z31 300Z , Ford GT , Mach 1.

The big, black pimp Mach 1.

Nice selection

I messed around yesterday and sold my FTO and GTO by mistake . I now have: MCR GT-R(4.05 is a hard time to beat on C1 outer), Ford GT, Pantera GTS, Mach 1(Muscle Pimp ), and still; the Ridox Supra.

P.S: How long has everyone been playing to get the engine swaps?

Its a matter of how much mileage is on the odo. 1242 is all that's required to get swaps.Took me about a day to get that on the XT and the FD3S. I beleive it was explained elsewhere in this thread how to get the mileage up , and not too far back , either. I asked that very same question myself.

Some of the custom cars look nicer than special cars. IMO, the No Loser team was formed by people who have served in different wars. I hate these friggin' wanderers ! I want the West No. 5 Corvette, but all I know is that he shows up on Mondays(I don't know what else he requires). If anyone knows the answer to this please help.

I beat it yesterday, now I'm trying to chase down wanderers, anyone know requirements for them. I finshed the game out with an EVO V. I guess I'll have to start gaining miles and hook my cars up with some engine swaps.

Kinda odd Hondas not on here I miss the S2000 and NSX. I guess I understand where there coming from but do they not know that there cars are like the most popular for engine swaps. B20's and B18's are like the 350's and 454's of the sixties.

The S2000 and the NSX were the ONLY cars I would have liked to see from Honda on here. Maybe even an old Eclipse and a new one too. My Mustang handed out beatings to the following: MCR GT-R, NOB Silvia, & the Ridox Supra. I'm still working on the other half of West no. 5's requirements.

West No. 5: 1)Appears on Mondays 2)???

He is beginning to piss me off to a whole new level!

I beat him. Gotta look as his requirements again , but I think its an engine swap.

I'm gonna make a list of who I have beat and what they require and post it here later on tonight.
