.

Is a Corvette a heavy car to you? I mean Mustang GT's are generally only a 100 pounds more then a Vette, unless its fully loaded.

its not really the fact that its "overpowered" that would cause oversteer. its the fact that its rwd.

I'll take a nice, safe, Volvo when driving through mountain roads. Even the best driver with the best car could snap loose when asphalt meets gravel. Once that happens, you want as many airbags as can be stuffed into a passenger compartment.
Oh yeah, and a clean pair of underwear to change into once it's all over.

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

I have to chime in and say that while I don't generally tear up mountain roads I would much prefer a rwd car over a fwd car on a twisty road course in general. (I live in the mountains and can assure you it is a very good way to die.)

It really all boils down to preference, but I will point out that you do not see fwd in F1, CART, or in any other uber-serious road racing efforts. Why? Simple, all that oversteer works to the advantage of the driver who knows how to use it. Understeer, well, just doesn't do anyone much good. Not to mention when the tires that do the steering also have to drive the car that is a compromise in and of itself. Only so much traction on one end of the car....and now it has to turn AND accelerate.

Understand, I am not flaming fwd here as I like and have enjoyed many fwd cars in my time. Many automakers have done a fine job of making fwd cars that handle awesome. But, lets remember that rwd is the more road race worthy all else being equal of the two designs in virtually any serious drivers opinion. When Ferrari or Aston Martin makes a fwd car...call me.

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

how has this thread gone for three pages worth of posts? this kid starts a poll asking people if they think that hes a good driver. well let me think...you just gave us a 5 minute fantasy story that sounds like something a 5 year old who knew what an integra is told. im gonna go out on a limb and say not only are you probably the shittiest driver ever, you also dont know dick about cars. no way in hell is a "stock" car with an "H" on the hood EVER, and i mean it, gonna beat a saleen mustang. not an NSX or anything.

even though youll probably never respond to my post, acuraintegraxti, youll always hold a special place in my heart: the place where people with fast ass mo fo cars are...
...i say this with my bullshit flag waving proud...

Are you "pheucking" kidding me?

NO Stock Honda will beat a Saleen...ever?

Do you have ANY idea what the hell Saleens are? There are TONS of 14-second Saleens out there, and probably a spattering of 15-second ones as well.

Except for the S281-E and the S351, which are both supercharged, a lot of Saleens are basically just Mustang GT's with the Saleen body-kit, wheels, exhaust and intake.

They are just as fast as a stock GT, because all the "power-adders" do is compensate for the extra-weight added to the car.

Stock S2000's give those kind a good run, usually. The 2004 S2000's which are dynoing about 20HP MORE stock-for-stock against earlier model S2000's, should be an even better match. A C32 NSX would have no problem whatsoever, while a C30 one would still walk it.

As for the supercharged ones, check here:
http://fordpower.hypermart.net/99saleenspecs1.html

If I am to believe that skewed site, C32 NSX's have strong chances against either S/C'd version, as the C32 NSX's are capable of VERY low 13's, and have also been known to break into the 12's, stock.

That's not even considering the NSX-R, or the K20-powered DC5 Integra Type R's (RSX in the US). The NSX-R is a mid/high 12 second car, while the latest ITR is a high 13-second car.

So, the next time you feel like saying EVER or NEVER, think about it first.

Edit: I call the site above "skewed" because they sit there and claim the S281 and S351 as weighing about 3070lbs each, when the cars they're adding all kinds of stuff to, WITHOUT taking any away, weigh about 3300lbs.

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

ha ha...youre exactly right. ever and never are absolutely terrible words to use on here. they usually prompt flamings and thats probably what i should get. i dont like mustangs at all. i dont know why i tried to defend them...i feel i have defamed the coveted honda logo.

what i dont like even more is people making up stories about how they took someguys saleen in an integra. just the other day i spent hours online looking at nsx specs and now that i compare them to the saleen specs i have found that they are incredibly comparable cars. i guess i overestimated (once again) the power of domestic cars.

the day i get out of law school ive swore to myself that im gonna put a down payment on an nsx..kind of a goal to set. but for now im gonna go out and wash the lude...

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

I am in N/C in the week and in my cabin on off days in TN and I got the car because a friend of mine had it and crashed the SOB so he sold it to me for 1000 bucks. I have done nothing to the car yet he had claimed to have a spoon clutch and flywheel, ported and polished head, spoon gears, spoon ECU, tokico struts, haspot cable to hydro conversion, and nitto 455 (195/55/15) touring tires. Maybe it was a 6 cylender, but I dunno. Thats why I poset, to see what others had to say about it. IT WAS A KILL!

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

I also drive down this road twice a week, I know it like the back of my hand. like I said he became a speck right before he took the corner, but down by the switchbacks, I caught up to him, and passed him. you can wave the B/S flag if you want, but I put a saleene kill in my recordbook.

Re: Integra vs. Mustang

Damn right I came back, what did you think, I would bail???? nah this sight is to helpful. I do have a question though.. I know there are forums for this, but alot of people are already reading this. when I place my electrical system under stress the motor kicks down to 500 rpm's, the retreaves back to 1130 rpm idle. Does this mean my altinator or something is about to go, or is this normal?? any replys to my question would be greatful..
