Only damages the engine if 1.) you dont build it up internally or 2.)You run to much boost for how the engine is built
When=Depends how long it takes for a 16 year to save up almost 3k what= I dont know an answer How much HP= My friend has a greddy turbo on his d-series and he has around 250 at the crank and around 220 to the wheels *edit* he is runnin 10 psi boost (on stock internals)

I would rather have a turbo so i dont know which is better.
The grill seperates from the painted part still in the car therefore no cutting gas mileage=i have NO idea

Re: Home-made Si grill (98 coupe)
properly built "turbo" engine & turbo would be the way to go. Depending how you drive, the MPG could remain the same, when your beating on the car your gas mileage will be greatly reduced!

Well a stock civic ex get like what 35 mph highway. With a turbo(i suppose stage 1) it would remain the same?
And when racing how much apporximatly would it reduce it.

I had the old crappy kind of CTR grill... the kind with the cheap plastic housing and the metal mesh inside. I found this new style from phasenine.com. I dont have a pic of it installed yet but you can check out their site, i found it on their main page. It's much thicker plastic than the old style, and the mesh is built in (it's a one piece instead of the 2 pc w/ metal mesh). Anyways, in case you guys wanted something that will last and is paintable try this one. As close to JDM as I have seen from a stateside company.

Seems like you're advertising your company since all 2 of your posts are pushing for people to go there.

Re: Home-made Si grill (98 coupe)
Hey, yea they have the CTR front lip - that's the one I got. I think it was listed for $55 but I called in my order cause I couldn't find the tail lights on the website. They cut me a deal since I was buying 3 things and I think I ended up paying 45 for the lip. Thinking about getting the CTR rear lip for my coupe.

Re: Re: Home-made Si grill (98 coupe)
I didn't think the ctr rear lip would fit the coupe..? Click my cardomain link and check out the one on my bumper. Do you think your bumper is the same size?

Re: Home-made Si grill (98 coupe)
Hey, you are right. A lot of people call it the type R rear lip, but it is made for the 2 door and 4 door civics. Check this link to see pics of the 3 door lip, and 2/4 door lip. http://phasenine.com/civic__96_00?b=1
Yours has a different back bumper but I think that mine and the 4 door have the same back bumper. Your Civic is pretty hott... |
