It looks good, I've takin great care of it, and most of all--I own it(no payments). All the things you listed about the problems is natural. I don't care what car anyone has; with age and mileage, things will go wrong. I've replaced the cv thing, struts, brakes, and clutch in the past 2 years, but before that...not a thing. My starter died on me 3 weeks ago, so I ain't driving my G, it's still parked on the street. Wished I knew how to find it and replce it. Anyhow, if you really want to make the financial committment than go for it. I've 105thousand miles on my G, but its still running strong and the girls on campus sweat the G. Do whatever is in your best interest for you!
I will agree with you that the P10 I own is a years old and still looks PHATTED. Girlz luv it for real!!! HAHAHA. Its just that its not up to par anymore. I cant empahsize enough that when I test drove another p10 it blew mine outta tha water. So I know the engine in my G is weak!!
I'm thinkin turbo transplant. But why not a new car??
I started to get a lil' bit heated over the way the G was acting up so I decided to go P11 hunting yesterday. There are alot of extras on the P11 that my P10 aint equipped with. Climate Control is a 'sikk' feature plus the black on black leather. Although I prefer Red or White the Dark Black would do. It comes with side skirts a complete ground effects package. The touring package is amazing. My friends are pretty much into cars but they'd never seen a G20 besides the two that I owned (both P10's). When they saw the P11 they freaked out. This car is everything I want right now. The only turn off is the fact that I gotta go into debt and make monthly payments besides my insurance.

WHAT TO DO?????????
Are u P10 owners tellin me that if given the chance you wouldnt trade in for a P11?

True true

I totally agree with ya bro, trust me if I had the funds I would definately get a P11. In fact my sister has a 2001, auto though. The car is sick! Tan w/ two tone leather, climate control, power everything, the factory kit that looks like an aftermarket kit, phat audio system--needless to say her car is tight. Tell you the truth though, my 93.5 5spd p10 is faster and the only thing I have is a free flow cat, K&N air filter but I drilled 3 2inch holes in the factory air box, and 17 inch wheels. I agree with you about leather, I think if I didn't have it in my car--it wouldn't feel as luxurious. If you can afford that P11, "ROLL OUT!":sun:

driving a nicer car than driving a p10.

Canadian G-

I use to work at a car dealership (3rd largest Honda dealership in the nation) and I've seen people come in and get slammed with high payments in addition to getting slapped with higher insurance rates and it is NOT a pretty sight...

Right now you've got a decent G20 that will go well if you take care of it. It's probably paid off and is nearing the 100k mark if not already over it. The car really just needs some normal maintenance and such.

I know what it's like to drive a fancy shmancy car and then have to jump into the p10... it's not that much fun (my parents own two 1998 Lexus's - GS4/GS3). But I think it DEFINITELY beats paying a huge car payment (because I don't have cash to be able to buy $16,000 car with cash yet), car insurance, and all the worry about where to park it so you don't get dinged.

Let's go over some numbers... I'll use my p10 as an example.

Let's say I find a 1999 p11 for around 16,000 US
My car, if I trade it into a dealer will be valued at like 3,500 MAXIMUM.
[1993 p10 with 102,000 miles, auto, moonroof, cd player, leather]

So right off the bat I'm looking at paying 12,500 for this p11.

A general rule in the car business to calculate monthly payments is to add 20-25 bucks for every thousand dollars that you finance. I have decent credit but for this example let's just say I have superior credit so we'll go with 20/month per thousand financed.

12.5 x 20 = 250 dollars/month for a car payment.

Insurance would cost me another 200/month easily because I'm young and I'd want to get FULL COVERAGE insurance with a high levels of coverage JUST in case the AF curse hits me.

So- right there we're talking $450 a month for this car. And this is in addition to all the worrying about the car getting dinged here and there in the parking lot wherever you go. If you were to spend just HALF that amount per month ($225) on your p10 by replacing this and maintaining this and that, your p10 would definitely last 200k miles. Hell- for $400 dollars you can probably ship a JDM engine to your house from California because there are shops that import them all the time.

The p10 is a good car. I've thought about swapping into a p11 before and that's why I know what it would cost me. For right now at age 23 and working two jobs (keeps me outta trouble with the ladies ) I know that I would rather put that money away for a down payment on a house instead of a car which is a DEPRECIATING ASSET...

My p10 has pretty much levelled off in depreciation with 102,000 miles, I can drive it 20,000 more miles and the car's worth wouldn't change that much. Our 1998 GS400 has 24,000 miles. If I were to pile on another 20,000 miles, you can bet your tush that the car's value would go down. And if we're talking Infiniti's here- they depreciate EVEN MORE!!

Which is why Infiniti of Scottsdale was discounting their NEW Q45's by 5,000 dollars if not more last year . (I don't know what it is this year, I haven't stopped by to look)

I dunno man- it's entirely up to you- but I will probably always have a p10 in my garage. Either as my main car or to putz around town in without worries. I have an auto right now- and I'm thinking a stick would be more fun. but - in due time, in due time... I need a house first.

I've actually owned both a P10 and a P11. The P10 has better acceleration right out of the box, because in the US it weighs 400 pounds less. The P10 tends to feel more nimble in my opinion.
I really like the suspension setup of the P11 as it does not oversteer as much as the P10 can.
The clutch and brakes on the P11 are better than the P10.
I liked the cloth seats of my P10 better than the leather in the P11, but that's just personal preference!
If they're not doing so already, Infiniti is going to be dumping their remaining P11s at really low prices and cheep financing, so that should make getting one a lot easier. 5 years/60K of full warranty is cool too!

even if you do get a new car it's all about the rountine maintenance or it'll end up like your p10. the g's are so reliable if you just take care of it. nissan is a great car company. i got a '72 240Z and the motor is still in great shape even after all the years of abuse. Even my '73 240 Z's motor still runs and that's been sitting around forever. anyways it's your choice though so good luck and yeah, since the g35's are coming out, the dealers should be trying to move those p11's out.

Id probably keep the P10 if I could figure out whhat the hell is wrong with the engine. Its totally laggin'. Hesitation off the line is terrible. I took it to the stealership figuring hey they built it they are the ones who can fix it. $400 later I had new sparkplugs????? Hmmm go figure. This is a nissan infiniti dealership. Did it fix the problem u ask? NO. Technician's answer we have to start from the basics. Hmmm, so after $4000 on engine service it will finally perform the same as if I were to buy a brand new engine for $2000?? Idiots. He also told me that he felt no hesitation from the car. Thats when I put my head down and said fukk it time for a P11. I'd keep the '10 if it was functioning properly tho!

All I can say is in the future, do some research so you don't get stroked...... Buying a P11 will still get you the same powerplant wich means you'll still be paying the same idiots the same large sum of cash.
