But, if Fujimi's are all new curbside tools like their Ford GT40s, I won't complain...!

Finally 917k !!!

Over the past week I took a deep dive into the net to learn about Porsche 917k models, which is my favorite race car of all time. This Fujimi kit has been rumored for years. Just my luck a week after my search Fujimi finally announces it!

I did just order an Airfix 1/32 Gulf Porsche 917k for $10 and just missed an old Heller kit of the '71 Martini LeMans winner that was on ebay. But my preference has always been the 1970 version without the rear vertical fins. When the Airfix kit arrives I will post a kit review. Anybody know if Airfix kit is curbside or has any engine detail?

There are some very nice 1/43 kits available for much dinero $100+

What a great day, I will have both 917k kits by Christmas!

All the best,
Ricardo

The 917K has been rumored for more than a decade, but it didn't come from just a wishful thought. Fujimi actually showed the wood master of the 917K at a hobby show, suggesting that they were actually going to make it after the P4. But for some reason, it didn't happen. Since then, people are asking about it, but I guess the chairman finally gave a go sign.
While we don't like it, maybe this mid 2000 yen pricing is financially sound. And if they can produce new kits at this rate, I'll accept this mid 2000 yen pricing. It's better than nothing, and I can't wait to correct the imperfection of the RX-8, which Fujimi left us.

They are making the accord wagon, but why not the sedan. The wagon looks okay but the sedan is so much better. Whatever, i'll just get wagon anyway.

Fujimi has a tendancy debuting wagon before any sedan, really don't understand why?

may be after they created the wagon mold, they just chopped the back part of the mold and combine with a rear part a sedan?

Probably something to do with the fact that wagons are more popular than sedans in Japan?
The Legacy ignited the wagon boom, and at the peak time, wagon to sedan ratio was almost 70% to 30%. With the introduction of previous generation B4 sedan, the ratio became even.
I proposed Fujimi to use a riser part for the Legacy to commonize as many parts as possible between the wagon and sedan, but that was only possible, because the wheelbase of the B4 and Wagon are identical.

The accord wagon has longer wheelbase than the sedan, so it requires more new parts. That's probably because Aoshima didn't make the previous gen Euro-R, and it's unlikely that Fujimi will make the Accord Sedan.
