@ jerry : totally agree jerry. that welly die cast is one of the nicest ever seen. also I cannot resist and took it at once. Only wheels, u right are a masterpiece. It is incredible the details and the quality with such proportions u can get with the price of 2 acrylic paints.
No way..love theme, will take all. LOL

The livery is now done, just waiting it to become dry. With decals on the GT1 is really taking her definitive shape.HD decals as well as their PE parts are incredibly nice and fits great on the model. On those parts they are really on top.

Stay tuned, pics coming soon

Great job Paolo. I love gt cars, so i follow this closely.
The work to opening vents are very educational.
Good luck until the end ...

Re: HD Nissan GT-R GT1

Looking real good!

I recently got the Top Studio kit of this car....because I am weak....I am Nismofo!

They definitely did not use Tamiya's body as a base and I don't know which kit they used.

As for the kit itself it seems to be pretty well engineered.

Sumo power !

decals. HD ones are simply great.they fits perfectly and are very well printed. as well as the PE parts this is really a lovely part of this model:

...and of course Nurburgring logo on her. Did u ever had any doubt about what version would I choose?

the decals reacts very well with softeners and enters in every line/corner of the body part.
The surface has been airbrushed with semy gloss paint for decal applying (impossible to make a decent work over a flat surface cause they will silvering, as it will be the black part when model will be finished). The roughness on tail is increased by pics cause the glossy points are just sports and not complete surface as usual, but think we already know this.

The model looks great and very, very aggressive.
Now will let all become dry for some days, and to let softner to complete his work in place....

Sumo Power is getting shape..

Officine Sumo Power LTD.

the body panels have been evidenced with a mixture of oilpaint (done with raw umber, black and dark grey),and carefully thinnered into lines. The nose area is now getting its shape correctly I think.
A strange missing in this kind of models is a decent carbon fiber decal sheet.Probably company simply forget to add in mine. They make stunning decals and will be a little plus every builder will love.
So some CF decal was placed on the front and rear extractors. I use incredibly good MG Model plus CF, reacting very well with softers.
Wheels have been finised with usual little white letters giving more realism. They look very nice too. Remember the tyre was done in a sort of rubber/resin giving a great idea of the real thing.

Final challenge will be the next step, so give HALF body flat on the black area.To do this I will make some plastic dimes to cover the glossy white parts and will use aeromaster flat paint (old aeromaster, the ones made by TRUE american pactra color company, not the moder shit done by vallejo acrylics..)
Ok ok..I stop with my BS and give u what u want..pics!!

Re: HD Nissan GT-R GT1

Another very nice model and great resin work !!
Just a thing I'm wondering, aren't the hood vents under PE supposed to be opened...? they seem closed...

Re: HD Nissan GT-R GT1

there was no other way to do.
Engine bay is just air and letting theme open meant just see air and light coming from the front, giant air intakes when model will be finished. The lower PE guide for vents is also a must to locate theme at the proper measure, and with a proper angle inside the resin of bonnet. The side vents over wheel arches are open now.....cause under it there is a big thick resin part covering the fw wheels.
Those vents are absolutely the hardest part at all of this model, and being placed one by one in position I am just satisfied with this result

In resin models some stuff must be compromises...u know
Had really no way to open bonnet and build up the compete Nissan engine LOL

Re: HD Nissan GT-R GT1

Oh yes I know so well what resin kit means in terms of compromises !!
BTW I didn't mean opening hood and building engine under or something like that, I was just wondering why what seems air vents to me is closed, if it was the kit conception as you confirmed that gives that, or if I was thinking wrong myself.
It's also a bit ironic to have the best part of the kit giving a closed thing instead of opened after all time and effort you spent opening what could be opened !!
Resin kits pleasures !!

Re: HD Nissan GT-R GT1

sure thats true Phil.
The vents must be cutted and placed before one by one on a flat PE with precise distance preholed lines and placed at the correct angle (working with superglue non so easy, LOL) then the little part group must be placed under thick bonnet, where thickness is around 3 mm. I closed everything on the internal side with milliput ang superglue with filler.
Before doing it was also thinking to use only the vents without the base, but such way is nearly impossible for me to fix theme in correct position, same distance and correct angle too (again with istant glue). add to this bonnet in such point is curved on 2 angles, and vents themself are curved too. LOL
think really this was the only way to make theme, asnd also for HD there is no other way to do it with a resin model kit.
On istruction sheet there is anything about this, of course, but also this is typical with those kinda models

compromises.....compromises..
