I'll take your mom over a manual or an auto any day!!!

P.S. I'm pretty sure autos can handle more torque than a manual.

I have an automatic coupled to a B18B in my Integra, and yes, I was dissapointed when I first looked into the window of the car in the lot, but tough, I was just unlucky. I was in need of a car, and what else but an Integra? Nice looking, semi-sporty, that'll get me from point A-point B. Its not like there's a huge street racing scene in Lincoln, NE anyway right? Most cars are your average joe intake-exhaust 4 bangers with autos, just like mine, and I dont really care. I got over the fact that if I race I'll be a laugh, I just race for the fun of it, its not saying much to beat my car, or for me beating a slower car. But on the other hand, in my friend's 3000GT VR-4 6-speed, with AWD, that is a different story. I cant ride with him anymore because it puts me in a depression because my car is slow and an automatic and his isnt. Oh well, at least I can pretend to have an manual and shift it from 1-2-D3-D4 j/k, I don't do that daily driving because it would drop pretty quick, only when I'm racing becasue I can shift at redline instead of redline-1000 and it shifts a little harder, but it doesnt make that much of a difference. Simply put, autos are convenient, manuals are fun.

I don't think you know what you are seeing. Pro street/stock driver 98% of the time use a reverse manual valve body automatic. Meaning, an automatic that you shift manually. Only difference is no clutch, and they produce lightning fast shifts.

Re: Manual or Auto?

the shifters they use in wrc are like the tiptronic shifters you can get for the newer bmw's and audi's only they're paddle shifters (like in F1) also, the new ferrari enzo is boasting shift times of .02 seconds with their paddle shifting tranny's... amazing stuff

Re: Manual or Auto?

I kinda like the triptronic shifters.. and paddle shifters again make me think of fast and the furious, but maybe that's just me... paddleshifters on the wheel in a FWD car like a Subaru WRX, or puegeot 206 hatch would be awesome..

and the reason I say manuals are beeter is that autos (at least honda autos) lose about 20-24% efficiency.. which means you may have a 150 HP engine in the car, but only about 114-120HP to the wheels... while a manual tranny gets about 15% efficiency.. 122.5 HP to the wheels.. and HP and torque go hand in hand.. so which is better? definitly manuals..
