Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

False alarm
As usual in the F1 world having been absolutely assured that 060 was in the US and being sent some pictures I did some digging and found they were old from '05 I think! Interestingly though another contact believes it has now sold as he tried to buy and was outbid...

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Perhaps the pictures were of #014 way back then, and someone somewhere took 2 + 2 to equal 43,989 after hearing #060 was for sale

Hopefully #060 gets out more in the owners new hands

They were - and shared on Instagram, which might give someone the impression they were fresh shots, but instead they were images from Dec 2005. I tried commenting twice on one of the photos to clear up the confusion and the account holder deleted my comment each time. Then Nicob replied and the same thing occurred.

If I'd known exactly what Henry was referring to I could have cleared this up when I saw his post and saved us all the guesswork.

Here are the pics from the SVAG showroom taken very shortly after the F1 arrived there which will look familiar to some here:

The Instagram account is benseabreeze - not sure what game he was trying to play, but it didn't work at all.

One thing about that particular plate is that it was issued after Jan 2010 which leaves #068 a distinct possibility.

A bit of a non-update. I was at COTA last weekend for the MotoGP and a track employee was mentioning during a paddock tour some of the cars (and their owners) who showed up in town and at the track during the F1 race. I asked him specifically if he remembered seeing this F1 and might know who owned it. Alas, he doesn't think it showed up at the track during the event but did remember people mentioning seeing it downtown. So still a mystery.

Chassis #028 came out for the Wingtip charity event being put on by the Taylor Lynn Foundation at the start of the 2013 goldRush Rally in San Francisco. Photo courtesy of Brian Zuk sent live from his phone.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

In other photos you can see a CA license plate on the back. That had me suspecting the car had been driven into the city, but in reality it was transported:

Probably the better option for driving something like this into the middle of San Francisco on a Friday afternoon. #crazydrivers

Some kid's mom took all of these shots - way to go mom!

I guess he is crazy about cars and is always sharing them with her so when she saw it parked on the street she actually knew what it was and took all these photos for him which he shared in that collage on Instagram.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

What a shot! I love this one!!

Normally a shot of an F1 on a flatbed would be fairly mundane, but the editing here gives this one a bit of life or sense of drama - anyway, I hope you'll enjoy it as well.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

It's not yellow - that's just a light reflection. We've covered it many times here, but it is a small metallic plaque that reads "Special Order Car by Andretti" which I would be willing to bet was added by the car's second owner in Japan. This car originally belonged to Michael Andretti.

Here's a closeup:

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Someone informed me that the plate on the rear of the car is not actually associated with this F1 for anyone who is taking notes. I suspect it was stuck there to make the car legal to park on the street for this event, but I don't know why they would not have just used a dealer plate instead?
