Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Sorry guys, have not been on here much lately. I will be going to Japan for a few days, leaving today. If you need me to get pics/info on any cars there, please post and let me know where to go. No promises, but I will try.

Rgds,
F1 monster.

Hi F1 Monster,

ZAZ MUSEUM.

What better place to go, to make your trip to Japan an enjoyable event. To see an F1LM and F1GT in the same place. This feat can only be achieved if you go to woking or Bunei. Plenty of pics of both, opened up of course also not forgetting the rest of the awesome collection. Enjoy yourself.

Better check their web site for opening times!!

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

If you will be anywhere near Tokyo, it does appear that BingoSports still has the Gulf Longtail GTR. I wouldn't miss the chance to see that if I were you.

Also, the white Koenigsegg CCX looks pretty impressive too.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

thanks for the info guys. i went to bingo sport and they were pretty adamant about no pictures, so i only have a few ;-) ...will post when i get back.

for the museum, i hope to get to it...but its two hours by train out of tokyo. it is closed tue and wed so i will have my japanese friend call them today during their opening hours to make sure i can visit tomorrow. they dont seem to have an answering machine--weird. i wont have my japanese guide with me tomorrow so it might be tough and i dont want to waste half a day riding around in trains and end up not being able to make it because of some trivial language problem. bingo was tough enough to find and that is right in the heart of tokyo. we will see, but i do hope to make it.

if any of you plan to visit japan and go outside tokyo, be sure to buy a rail travel card in your country. it will pay for itself many times over.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Well, it was just sitting there when I got there, right in the window. So it was a bit strange...one of the most exclusive cars in the world, just sitting in a shop window. It did not look too special, especially with a CLK GTR next to it, and an MC12 beyond that, and a few other exotics scattered around it. There was a white Koenigsegg CCX there also, and a CLK DTM. Also, there was a beautiful 288 GTO and a Murcielago and LP640. Hopefully they are all in my pics.

They want 3.8 million USD for the F1, and apparently someone in Hong Kong is close to buying it. No spares, no service history, no information other than what you can get out of the factory.

The tires looked new, though, and the car was in immaculate condition. Up close, you can see that the whole car is covered in a big vinyl wrap. I guess it is bare carbon fiber underneath but I dont know. It is not painted, just wrapped. The colors are beautiful up close, with a nice sheen and very pretty fades from one color to another.

I am happy I saw it.

Tomorrow is my last full day in Japan and I am planning on going to a town from where I can see Mt. Fuji. So I really hope to be able to go to ZAZ as well, which is in a different direction, but I dont know if I will make it. My priority is Mt. Fuji over a bunch of parked cars, even if one of them is an F1 LM! :-) Chances are, though, that I will be coming back to Japan quite regularly. I have fallen in love with the place.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

BTW, I was able to take the new Skyline GTR for a nice drive yesterday, but I would have preferred to testdrive some of the saleswomen at the showroom instead. The two Nissan showrooms in Ginza have some really amazing-looking women working there. I had a lot of questions, all of a sudden. :-)

Highly recommended.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

i made it to zaz yesterday. it was a small place but it had amazing supercars. photography was forbidden and there were security cameras everywhere. i had to do some serious sweet talking through my translator...eventually they relented and even opened up the barriers and allowed me to sit in the lm and take pictures. the gt was the maroon car, repainted. it was locked and they couldnt find the key so i wasnt able to get into it. i hope the serial number is known because i couldnt really see it in the dim light. perhaps it will be visible after touching up one of the several pics i took through the windscreen. i will post the pics after i get home, in a couple of days.

other notable cars were f40, f40 lm, jaguar xjr 15, and a pearl white fxx to match the owners pearl white enzo. the owners own a bunch of casinos/slot machine halls called pachinko in japan, their company is called called zent and the main division is called zaz amusement.

the cars are not driven too often, perhaps twice a year. once for a festival in the summer, once around xmas.

the owner had a white f1 as well, it was sold back to the factory and from there...i hope peloton/hurst or one of the other experts knows.

there was a lot of information about the gtrs and the racing scene but my translator had a sore throat by then, so i guess that will have to wait till my next visit. apparently a green f1 is on display a half hour away. and there is some connection to someone named Mark in Australia who owns a Ford dealership. He has two McLaren F1s, including the Lark GTR, if I understood it all correctly.

this place is far, far away from tokyo. two hours by train to nagoya. then another half hour by local subway train to fugikawa. then a half hour by bus to the second to last stop. i was planning on going there on my own, but thank god i didnt--i would never have been able to find the right trains and buses and it would have killed the day. i dont recommend visiting zent museum unless you speak japanese or have the street address and plan on driving there in a car with sat nav.
