It will probably big enough for one of your kids to drive. Glad to see you post here finally. Hope you follow this thread more often!

You wouldnt do a leather interior coz youre chicken shit, just kidding. It will be well uh,...intresting to do. I cant wait to see how well it turns out. I will also put XM radio in the interior, need to modernize it somewhat.

Thanks for the comment. Paint will be 2 tone. White pearl on the bottom with Royal Blue Pearl above the chrome strip. The paint will probably be HoK or PPG, and it will be custom mixed.

Thanks to everyone for their replies! The project will begin to slow a little with Final exams approaching in the next week or two. Im also buying an RC from a friend so funds are depleted. However with my birthday on the last day of school I hope to reciece the powerplant for this thing!

No, you're right. That's exactly why I wouldn't do a leather interior, lol.

Nice choice for the color, GTMark. I love when they do those 2-tone colors on hot rods. You probably already have something fingured out for this, but for the chrome strip seperating the colors, might I suggest some dress-up door frame covers that they sell in pep boys/autozone etc. Seems to be just plyable enough...

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1/6 Hot Rod (Progress)

You did drill into the frame rails and glue the crossmembers inside, right? I don't remember how you said you were attatching them, my mind has been elsewhere lately. Is the front end far enough apart? I hate to ask such things since I've seen you planning it so much, but if it slipped you mind, better to fix it now than later...

Otherwise, it looks like it's coming together. It looks like a frame now! Just some wheels, a body, engine, interior... heh... I'm glad I'm not in your shoes...!

Yes I did put tubing in the rails for the cross-members to slip into for support. I triple checked the front end, I thought it was awfully narrow also, its 3", right on target. Thanks for spotting me, I tend to forget small things that are very important.

In a few minutes I will sand the new putty joints and add more cross-members for the cross-members. I need the wheels, and motor badly. Especially the motor.

Its called Murphy's Law; What ever can go wrong will go wrong. The problem isnt a big one, it just pisses me off.

Thanks for the wishes.

Hmm. Perhaps in the future, you might reinforce the joints with strip stock, running along the upper and lower bit of the C channel? You can bend them around the corner of the joint, and it would be positive reinforcement, like the holes in the frame for the crossmembers. I always hate attaching things only by their surface, for this very reason.

I'll try working on it a little this weekend, but I just bought a new Schumacher Mission (RC) with an ass load of extra parts for $40. Last night I used epoxy putty to join the two pieces together. I thought that might actually work best since you could build a real car body kit with it, run into another car head on a 75mph, and the body kit would be find while the other car is totaled. That shit is strong as hell.

I have completed many large scale models, and I have also built 1/1 scale things. Mods I could slack on because it was immature children.

I had planned on reinforcing those joints with strips, but the epoxy was strong, I guess over time and vibration it wheres down.. Funny thing is, this was the joint I broke before. I think I may have fixed the problem with some Tamiya Epoxy Putty.
