Hi Johny; take a look this Thread; I think you will find everything what you need of #16R.
Also you can do some search words by "#16R", should work fine.

No welcome! It really have been fantastic to see few of the owners enjoying in this Forum. Specialty cars like these ones!
By the way, we also have #13R's owner onboard, he hasn't writed a while but I think we will be hearing from him when summer comes. Atleast I hope that.

Today David Price runs GULF McLaren Team in Blancpain Endurance Series!


"In 1995, his team was looking after Thomas Bscher`s (West) and Moody Al Fayad`s (Harrod`s) Mclaren F1 GTRS. It began when John Nielsen asked me to manage his car (Bscher`s in fact). In two years, we won a European and a World title and came third at Le Mans. The third place at Le Mans with the green and yellow Harrod`s Mclaren driven by Andy Wallace and Derek and Justin Bell has remained firmly engraveed in David`s memomry: It rained all nigt and it was a very difficult race to manage. Andy never stopped talking about the rain. It was a Big advantage having an intelligent guy in the car. We led the race for twelve hours before having problems with the clutch towards the end, despite which we still came third. Before that, the other Mclaren driven by Nielsen and Mass led the race for a long time even though it had a defective windscreen wiper. It was then delayed by a stop to change the clutch. The team took advantage of this to redo the brakes, which proved fatal: When John rejoined the brakes were cold and he went off in the first chicane. As the radiator was at the front, the engine overheated and that was it. There was no second chance in 1996 as the weather conditions were less favourable for the Mclarens: We made a really bad start, but we fought our way back up during the night and finished fourth and six (Nielsen/Bscher/Kox and Wallace/Groullard/Bell)."

Your best bet is probably to try and arrange a visit to the BMW Classics Collection museum in Munich. Not 100% sure how one does that, but more than a few people have gotten to visit in recent years so it doesn't seem quite as impossible as it used to.

If you can't arrange a visit then perhaps they can give you information on its next planned outing.

Sadly BMW's press release for this latest appearance referred to the car as a "McLaren F1 STR" so if someone was searching for McLaren news they might have missed it depending on their search criteria.
