Your absolutely right you we're screwed all the cars you had in the show we're just pushed to the side and their we're all wonderful examples of clean and neat import cars. but i will say i would have rather of been in the class you we're and known i lost to better cars any day then what i lost to today. i think i need to form a new model club that would place some much needed focus on import cars.

I was telling Karyn that. Its getting to be out of control. Maybe they need a class on how to identify proper imports.

Question

A Corvette won the Foreign/Exotic category of which it is neither. The club that hosted this needs to take a serious look into the execution of the contest.

I don't know much about street car modeling, I only do race cars but I too felt kinda screwed at the show. I do remember that beatle and the Altezza, I didn't think they were all that great, but I don't remember your entry, off the top of my head. I did like Espins? Skyline on the revolving display, that was a nice clean build, and that didn't win that class??? I should know better though, this is my fourth or fifth year of doin the MassCar show and the judging is ALWAYS sketchy. I did end up taking a 3d in shelf class for my Quick Skins Audi Quattro A4, but I thought it should have done better in that class. I also had a small scale 1/43rd Tameo JPS Lotus 91 F1 that I thought should have maybe won or at least placed in that class and it did neither, I lost to a small scale fire truck, a street corvette and a tiny 1915 model T or something made totally of a Photo-etch sheet. Granted that model T was tiny and it was interesting, but it was all Photo etch and the painting although nice was all matt colors no real finish to it. My other two entries a Tamiya WRC Arai version wheathered up, and a Hasewgawa Tein Corolla box stock, I didn't expect it to do well, the compitition class was full of good highly detailed stuff, and the box stock was full of muscle cars. My experience has been that they are partial to american muscle or american street or municple stuff. Foriegn or a F1, or LeMans car will always loose to a Nascar entry. Now that's not to say that the NASCAR entry would be a poor build, that Viagra NASCAR was gourgeous this year.
I have pics from the show, sorry, mostly the race or competition entries. I will get them downloaded from my camera and uploaded here tonight. I would think Masscar's web page would have pics of all the award winners today or tomorrow as well.

Hey Jamesonscale i remember your audi that was a real nice one it should have placed higher. yeah espin had that skyline on the revolving stand i think he should have placed with it. my cars we're the honda civic ek-9 and the toyota blitz if all goes well espin will be posting some pics of them on his website. so that gives my lose vindication in the end i had a better time at the bay colony show last november it was smaller but i now feel they understand imports better i placed second in the rod and custom and i was up against some real nice american rods and street machines and their i was with my honda taking second. figure that one out.

I can relate all too well! The last 3 contests I was in went pretty much the same way. Closed-mindedness p*sses me off when it comes to imports!

Well, I was also at the Masscar show, and I was also in the category (foreign/exotic) where that Corvette was. The Vette, while a great build should have been in another category. I got a third for my Yellow Ferrari Dino, which is fine by me. I learned a long time ago not to build models for the awards, build them for yourself. If you get a trophy or plaque, great, but if you don't don't sweat it. There were no bad models in the category, but I did notice that that Integra Type R is a 2002, not 2001.

Also for the guy who mentioned the Bay Colony show, that's my club, and the reason you did well is because your model was beautiful. I was a judge in that category and the Bay Colony show judging plays no favorites. The last member that did that, was kicked out immediately
Bay Colony's rep for being just a military show is fast fading, as I myself am sponsoring new car classes to get car builders to our show.

Sounds like I'll be attending the bay colony show, please create a whole bunch of compitition car catagories. If you create a place they will come.....

This thread needs to stay on the front page so..."shameless bump"

I sent an email to Masscar asking them why there was a Corvette in the Foreign/Exotic class. So far no answer yet.

MassCar'03 Pics

Well here are the pics I got from the show. I have to apologize that I didn't get as many pics as I wanted. I had my kids with me and had to shuttle back and forth to baseball practice and didn't get to spend as much time at the show as I wanted. Also being a race car modeler I don't have anyshots of anything but some of the compitition entires. I think however you can see the general level of compitition at the show, high!

I'll post these as thumbnails to save room and bandwith. If you want to see the larger pics I am sure you can trace the URL to my hosting site. You can also see more and better pics of my builds on my hosting site. Enjoy

First my entires:
