Re: Fujimi's Impreza WRX STi with Photo-Etch

thanks guys,

some updates, most are test fitting of the PE parts, IMO the fitting are great

ignition key also included

the key

ignition key in

door's key hole, i drilled a hole using 1.1mm

the dashboard's speedometer ring fit nicely

also fit nicely on the decal

front grill

fit is perfect, no visible gap

you can even choose for CD player or DVD player

some attempt to replicate lining on the cushion, but doesnt look good

i sand too much on the front bumper's vent, so i add 0.25mm styrene card, and reshape the hole

Re: Fujimi's Impreza WRX STi with Photo-Etch

some update, checking the right stance:

initially i want it to look low as the reference above

but still can't get it right, then i realise i'm using a 19" wheel, in the reference, i think the wheel is just 17" or 18"

other angle:

i tried scratch built the rear lip twice, but fail to get it right, will try for the third time

Re: Fujimi's Impreza WRX STi with Photo-Etch

The wheels are 18"s. So yours do look a little bigger, but overall it looks great. Is it going to be a similar paint like in the photo?

Very nice work so far! Beware, the hood has a sink mark "line" across the front of it. The line will become more clear when paint is applied.

Re: Fujimi's Impreza WRX STi with Photo-Etch

Thanks Mark, you are correct about the sink mark, will fix it before priming.

Some updates, decided to change the brake after some comment from another member. The stock brake look too small for 19" wheel, so i decided to use brakes from the Impreza WRC 05.

Here's the comparison between the stock & Impreza WRC 05's brakes:

At first i was hesitate to change the brake because the kit included nice PE disc brake. But after searching my stash, i found that the Impreza WRC 05 had 2 set of brakes, and the best thing is that the crazy modeler's PE for that impreza also had two set of PE disc brake.

But both brakes are install different way, so modification is needed, i add some pla-plate and 0.5mm brass rod to secure the position

Wheels are converted from female to male peg

Here's the brake, also I've also drill some 0.6mm hole along the disc brake, but then i realise its not visible

Test fit, front wheels are a bit too front, still figuring how to move slighty backward

Right rear wheel are off alignment, need to fine tune a bit

Re: Fujimi's Impreza WRX STi with Photo-Etch

looks really good. looking at the reference pic of the white wrx and your wrx, the front wheels sits in the same forward position. that will have to do with suspension adjustment of positive caster for stabilization at high speeds. so it's a good thing
