Working on bits&pieces. I have modified exhaust to be more like in real thing. On the picture you may find: original exhaust, Tamiya's and mine (right upper corner). I will add exhaust hangers as well.

Re: Honda S800 Racing - Tamiya 1/24

While other parts drying I have started tweaking door panels. First picture shows milled (0.3 mm) door handle - looks imho much better.

Second picture shows door opener and window handle already corrected. As I have not been able to use mill I did milling job by hand - that's why some putty has to be applied (hands were shaking )

Nice approach on the door handles etc.

Once you get your photo-etch equipment, you'll be able to do them that way instead

Re: Honda S800 Racing - Tamiya 1/24

Yes, doing own PE parts is the next skill I have to learn. And buy some new equipment as you said

Anyway I need more mill drills (longer ones) for such tasks. It take less time to drill than create pe parts with not that bad effect at the end.

Thanks

Here you go:

Modified roll cage. While looking at the pics, I have noticed just after paint job, that Tamiya's roll cage is simplified. Plastic rod helps a lot!

Re: Honda S800 Racing - Tamiya 1/24

Dry fitting... Seat color went wrong (now is TS-82 Rubber Black), I will try with Nato Black. I am going to differentiate black and than make interior more interesting.

Excelllent progress and very clean work. This has got to be one of the coolest little cars I have seen in a long time. You are really bringing it to life.

Re: Honda S800 Racing - Tamiya 1/24

Lack of time -> little update...

I have thinned auxiliary belt, modified alternator (shorter with different ending). I have also added mount for the alternator - Tamiya's hangs on belt only...

Re: Honda S800 Racing - Tamiya 1/24

Finishing interior... I have changed seat color to make it more black while not the same as the rest of the interior. Mixed Nato Black, Flat black and oversprayed with heavy diluted X-18.
I have given a try with a flock (for the first time). Not particularly happy
Gearbox lever - Sakatsu turned part.
Seatbelts almost finished - the most tricky part, assembling harness with seat glued, is ahead of me. Keep your fingers crossed.

Pretty color for the seatbelts
