Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

I still need a set of headers. Don't want to leave any power behind after all the earlier work.

Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

I count 9 guys in for headers. The guys from Franks garage on the other thread could be ten. Are we good to go? Still need a local GA GT-RA for fitting? Is that all we are lacking?

Since Headman already makes the headers for the 351 motor used in the GTS cars, they shouldn't have too much trouble making the set for the GT-RA. Is the only difference between the two motors the deck height of the block? Port spacng and mounting holes are the same for all Ford small blocks, right?

Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

I think the issue to pay attention to is the steering shaft position as there is a difference on some cars.

Too bad Dad's car can only make 340 rwhp for TTS.... the new 347 would probably love some headers.

Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

Header needers, Chris from headman (Georgia) call me back this afternoon. Said he found the jigs for the 351 GTS long tube headers, quoted me (one) $600 bare plus $200 for silver or black ceramic coating. ($100 less each for 10 or more.??? They start at 1 5/8 step to 1 3/4 to the collector. Good deal or not? Do we have a choice or ?? Any good kits, I can weld but tubing bending- can't afford the bender. thanks Bill

Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

Compared to the $1000 Pad used to get for them, $800 is a good price. Got to be much better than shorties just by reducing back pressure. But compared to an equal length set, they aren't so sweet. If they were the only real option, I'd likely go with them. See Eric's post on the other header thread.

Agreed, $800 is a good deal. If you make your own you can spend over $1,000 ($200 for good Ford header plates, $250+ for 1 3/4" weld up kit, $250 for additional mandrel bent bends, $200 for weding materials and $300 for coating). Never mind the hours that you will put in.

Kel.

Re: All I want for Christmas - New Headman Headers

i had headman make me a set. I bought the header flanges online from a place that just makes the flanges and then headman made my set. $750 coated.... that was a few years ago.
