Re: Bigscale Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90

Can you conrirm that this car is a 'crew-together' car? I have one myself (but the road car) and mine has screws and a small screwdriver to be put together. I accept that you will be building it 'properly' but wanted to know how you were handling the screws and screw-heads once put together? Are you going to putty over them to hide them?

I'm very interested in seeing how you put this whole vehicle together and to what level of detail you build into it. In fact, I can't wait. Please keep us all updated with lots of pics.

Cheers!

Hey Ajrichar!

This car is indeed a screw-together car. The screws that are visible once finished will be hidden, dont know how yet. But like on the engine, the pulleys are screwed to the engine block. Once the engine block is in place you wont be able to see them so i dont try to hide them. (Fear of messing things up )
I will keep posting updates, no worries.
Currently the final primer is on and maybe i will paint it calsonic blue tomorrow.

Fantastic results with your polishing. Are there any swirl marks close-up? That's my biggest problem. If you don't mind, what's your method of polishing?

Re: Bigscale Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90

Started to work again on the blue beast....

Only things that need to be done on the body are: painting windowtrims, making new fuelfiller thingies for in the trunk ( plastic pieces are not good )

Pics:

The blue on the garrett decal is some left over wash and is already removed:

And a pic with the hood on:

Greetz

@kevhw: i sand out dust with tamiya 1200 grid sandpaper, then polish with finishers compound (3 stages) an to remove swirl marks i use the micro gloss liquid abrasive from micromesh...

Re: Bigscale Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90

Stunning build so far!!! Amazing detail & great finish on the body.
I noticed that there is blue paint behind the front lights lens. From memory it should be silver, although i beleave the N1 spec GTRs had "special" lights that where plated in a darker chrome on the inside, ive heard them refered to as "bug eye", but i dont know how accurate that is. Heres a pic, check it out

Cant wait to see what your gonna to do the engine!!!

Re: Bigscale Calsonic Skyline Gr.A'90

Hi, SuperMele:

First of all, let me say that your work with body colour is really good.

I have seen in pictures some mistakes very easy to solve. First is that no Gr.A versions run with rear wiper, and second is that fuel caps must be mounted inside the rear hood, and third is rear hood open key lock must be eliminated.

I attach a pair of reference pictures I'm using to make same version but at 1/24 scale.

Hope will be useful for you.

Borjacho
