Theres nothing wrong with a hobby that doesn't hurt anyone else. Long as its not an obsession then don't worry what other morons think about it.

In Singapore, most parent are against models making. They said is a waste of money and time. Some of my friends said only kids build models, and all modelers doesn't have a bright future. That's is the worst thing here, and I don't like it. But I still happy of what I did. At lease a right path. my 2cent

Yeah. Most of the time, they're considered "toys". It will help you if you plan on going down the career path of car designing, which is what i'm planning to do. One of the steps in designing the car is making it entirely out of clay, and they say that doesn't have anything to do with modeling? Tsk.

people always say modelling is for kids or geeks, So i have a display case at work (toystore/hobby store) and everybody that sees my kits as well as other peoples kits have a change of heart on hobbies.
when they see what they can turn out like. But it also scares alot of beginer modellers that they arn't that good so some explaining goe's on to reassure them and it's all fine

Modelling is cool if anyone disagrees there jelous

I use'to get in ALOT of fights in my first year in high school, nothin to be proud of but now... 3 years later... if I get in an argument with someone, I'll fight afterschool when it's completley necassary.

Just don't do it in class

It's funny that you mentioned that, everytime my dad says I spend too much money on modeling, I tell him (sarcastically), "would you rather wan't me to spend the money one drugs?", and my dad says " ... just be careful with that knife"

They always think that those car with antena are Radio control carz and the shine on the cars are diecast. But, sometime I make fun of them by saying " If you are looking for R/C, pay me S$50 Grands and buy u big R/C!" :hehehe: :hehehe:

I myself want to pro build like my friend, so I still think that this hobby can survive if modelers in singapore keep promoting these hobby to all youngster and explain to those young parent what is these hobby all about? That's why I hope one day, there will be a big show just like IPMS from the rest of the world(except Singapore IPMS, is totally failure to model carz).

Bimmerkid....thanks. Actually I am doing some body myself, now want to try to do whole car in scratch. Btw, what is the material(clay) to do those concept car?
crab...you are right. Japanese parent actually like their children to have these hobby.
DSM-Mark....They rather buying a computer and let them play games than do models.
