Re: 2000 Silverado 5.3 hard to start.

Just did another check, fuel pressure right at fuel filter is only 60 PSI and goes down to zero after the fuel pump stops whirring after 2 seconds or so, I guess it's thew fuel pump then....

Re: 2000 Silverado 5.3 hard to start.

Finally found the receipt of the fuel pump I bought at NAPA, turns out it was a Delphi with a 1 year guaranty on it, just as big a piece of crap like any other brand. I paid over $300 for that pump, how much you want to bet it's made in China. Same with those guys on this board saying you should buy OEM parts, yeah right ! Why pay much more then needed, take spark plugs for example, I got the cheap ones from walmart and guess what, they're still going after 80,000 miles!!! Cheapy Autozone Brake pads and Rotors from DuraLast replaced 60,000 miles ago and I use my truck like it's suppose too be, hauling a ton of rocks or dirt in the back or pulling a 3 to 5 ton loaded trailer, no problem! This is what a truck mis made for ! Just my 2 cents.

sounds like dirt got into the check valve because 60psi is not bad..but the droping pressure is the check valve..
