well, we got that fixed....
.. some hammering involved.. --/ went for a ride some, no noise,,,, good mechanic i am i guess (that was my impersonation of Jcat's style )ok, i got it. was not too bad, just sort of awkward getting some bearing caps out. ahh, hammer and prybar takes care of everything. one of the old bearing caps was EMPTY - no needle bearings inside at all. none and for long time, was obvious. packed damn slip yoke with magic grease same time. those socks i stuck between undercarriage and that whatever -the-purpose-is-shield worked well, now it is REALLY quiet. once again, thanks for y'all's help. mike, if it's under load only, then look at the leaf springs bolts attachment points in the frame. i have seen place else pics of those going oval with time, which permits the bolt to start wobbling inside the hole, making noise. |
