Well, the only thing i dont like about rice burners is that the people who own them slap on all these stickers and huge spoilers and think that adds HPs to their car. When I used to live near the city I would see a ton of civics with ridiculous spoilers and ugly body kits. They would constantly be reving their engines at stop lights with the cars next to them.

My car doesn't have a huge spoiler and is a lot faster than a civic, specially ones "tuned" with stickers. If a Camerro has such a small spoiler why would a civic ever need one ?

I have a friend who at that time bought a new Civic SI, he was all into the import mods but he wouldn't touch his car. I asked him why he wouldn't and he replied he didn't want his car to look stupid like the other rice burners he'd seen.

Camber : all those mods they add aren't cheap. So i don't use the word as a racist term to degrate people who buy civics and then soup them up.

Some of the tuners look pretty good, and then there are the horrible ones.

To sum it up : Stickers dont add HP. If it doesn't need a spoiler, then dont add a huge one to counteract the lack of speed. IF they look good, then who cares

Thanks

Also, with the Stickers and spoiler to add hp, I think that is just way over the line, I don't think people really think that adding a sticker or a spoiler adds hp, i think they do it because they think its "cool" at the time. I must admit, some of the things i did to my civic a long time ago, was rice, like my glasspack exhaust, i hated that.

The definition of a ricer is, is a person who is fortunite enough to spend thier money on ALTEZZA rear lights, and HUGE spoilers, other than putting it into an engine. You can define a ricer, if someone woujld rather spend 200 $ on ALTEZZAS over buying catback piping, or New intake manifold.

IT has nothing to do with Japanese people, its just because most of the cars which r "rice" are japanese made.

OK: a model Rice car, is a car with MANY MANY Decals, and a big spoiler, LIKE all the ITR's on here... not many have turbos, or superchargers or any modded part in the engines.. but yet, all have decals, and huge spoilers, and etc...

many of the properties of real Rice cars, and turned into models...

i don't even know why this thread was bothered with. i can't count the number of times we've had a thread concerning "what's rice and what's not". pretty much everything i would have to say has already been said...but i'll add this. rice just isn't what you have done to your car. while i personally consider most of the cars at any given Hot Import Nights meeting to be rice, it's not just what's done to the car. that's a big portion of it, but the biggest portion of it is attitude. rice is some guy with an Integra with a huge wing, altezza's and a fart can but nothing done to the engine, and he goes around claiming his POS can smoke any car on the road. when he loses, he claims it's a "bad day" or he "misshifted". another version is drivers of rice-machines claiming to have parts on their car that aren't actually existant on their vehicle. rice IS NOT, i repeat, IS NOT a racist term in the way that i use it. rice also does not only apply to Japanese cars. in fact, a large portion of Japanese cars (the ones that i like) are super powerful, with the driver focusing on performance instead of appearance.

as for models? think of that definition in 1/24 scale....

How the heck are you even supposed to tell a model car it's rice? Half of them don't even have engines! And it's not like you'd race the other half with engines to see which plastic GT wings and epoxy putty spoilers improve race track performance. The great thing about model cars is that whatever you imagine is under the hood is under the hood.

...that said, there's still something to be said about personal taste; and I for one do not personally some of the stuff mentioned before like huge wings and stickers.

You know what, if its a cleaning built anything i show props, real or scale.. So if ya enjoy building a civc with a huge apc sticker on the front do it.. if ya wanna build a true jdm civic do it.. Forget what other people say or think and do it for your self.. Not sure if any of that made sense but ohwell...Later Rick S..

So should model cars only have Studio 27, Scale Motorsport and Detail Master stickers?

Should they have Tamiya and Revell emblems in place of Honda and Chevy logos?

Dont mind me but over here in Singapore we call a riced car and the driver who drives it an Ah Beng

An Ah Beng just loves to overdo his car with spoilers, skirtings, shiny wheels, big loud banging speakers. You can see him sticking out his hand over the opened window with a cigarette between his fingers.

From where you are, you can hear his loud dunno wtf music.

Ah well, thats society for you. Although we hate to admit but someway or the other, there's always gonna be some 'category' or name for these fellas.

Just take it easy. Tolerance is the key word here and everywhere.

you know I dont have a problem iwht the big wings and rims but they have to have power. there can be cars that have all this crap put on them but it is doesnt have power. " I only have a 100 hp but I have a body kit, spoiler, rims.....etc" give me a 400 hp street Civic then I will be happy. That is actually my plan is to buy a CRX I have found and turn it into a street beast. but the engine comes first it will ook stock untill I get the engine done.
