Re: Porsche 917K -A tribute to Pedro Rodriguez-
Hello,
a very nice work, great weathering. I find the varnished tapes in the front strange. With beginning of the race the headlight covers from foil were varnished also partially. What had happened there, accident in the qualifying and then repair? Is Fujimi 1/24. Grüße, Jens |

Re: Porsche 917K -A tribute to Pedro Rodriguez-
Thank you all very much, i really appreciate your kind words!
Some answers: @jenner: Hello Jens, after i read so much and after i looked at a bunch of pics of the car(s) and race reports i decided to reproduce that tape which might have had various reasons, mainly simply to protect the extrem low front of the car from all this little rubber rockets, stones and to give a bit of extra strength in situations of "infights"!? Especially Pedro Rodriguez' car.......You are right, it stays a bit mysterious but i found it to be important enough to give it a try. I don't insist on correctness. You are absolutely right about talking about that, just have a look at these pictures. The teams had real indigenous methods in former times but that makes it so interesting even for modelers! ![]() ![]() These long runs must have been a kind of high speed war....... @Sebastian: I'm really honoured by your compliment thus you are one of the real Porsche freaks! Thanks! MPWR: Thank you very much! And let me take the chance to thank you (and all the other moderators) for spending lots of personel energy and power to keep the community together in this forum. @scalemodelfanatic: Thanks and GOOD LUCK for your project! @jano11: Thank you! Actually it really seems that i might have a chance to publicize an article in the german journal MODELL FAN!! (Thanx to M.S.!) Let's see...... Bye for now, keep up all the great work! Yours Jochen |

Re: Porsche 917K -A tribute to Pedro Rodriguez-
Hi
Wow - really like that finish on the car. So untypical to most other models in high gloss. The reason for the heavily abraded finish on cars at Daytona in those days were the surface of the concrete track. It made the thin fibreglass bodywork wear away from flying concrete debris, like literally thousands of these stones 'sandblasted' the frontal parts of the cars. That is why the tried to protect it with tape and so on. Rather well portrayed on your model! Flemming |
