In 90 - 91 they went to automatic restraints. This was due to new regulations that required either an airbag or a passive restraint for us stupid americans to lazy to use our seatbelts...then when we get ejected from the car and fly across the interstate after a collision, our families sue the state and get big $$$$ cuz we were a lazy dumb-ass...this way at least there is something holding u back I guess. The lap belt is still a manual process - this auto seatbelt is why us peeps with 90 -91 sedans can't put in an Integra arm-rest/center console...cuz the roll for the shoulder belt is in between the seats

In 92 when they brought in the 5th gen, they had airbags...I think those seatbelts on the sedans were an easier fix than re-designing the 4th gen to accomodate an airbag. I always warn new passengers when they get to watch out for the strangling seatbelt The hatches have a completely different set up, and it is even more cumbersome.

Oh, and welcome new guy.. - it is pretty clean...I would get an estimate on fixing the car...then decide what you want to do. I recently had a small accident in the back (some young kid wasn't apying attention and rear-ended me ) - and the estimate was $1600...so I bought my own parts off the Internet and some used ones from a junkyard, and saved a few bucks.

DOHC ZC, I,H,E, urethane bushings and mount inserts, rock chipped hood, some rust, stock steelies, nice comfy Integra seats, and the A/C works! What else could you want from an 18 year old car with 241,000 miles? Working on getting the Si tranny in now
