Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

I agree- Also it's very clean build
For tamiya: MP4-13 doesn't include that West markings (even nontobaco logo) for front wing)

Also my mp4-4 arrived and it has no tire decals as well...

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Hi, progress looks good, but if I can make an idea for improvement (but it is too late now with decals I guess) I would take the paint with fine finishing paste, than clear coat and again finishing paste before apply decals. But otherwise it is really good. Can't wait next update. opcorn:

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Thanx for the comments guys...

@odyner: will keep that in mind for the next build

It may take a while for the next update because i bought a house and its a lot of paper work and running around...
So i may not be able to build as much as i'd like...

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Nice and clean work; those replacement connectors sure add to the realism.

Have you checked that the body still fits with those cables on top of the sidepods? Now's the time to find out.

Thanx bill, the car will be displayed with the body off ... those are not replacement connectors, just cut off the tops to make it easier to drill holes for the electric wires and then painted them in gold leaf.

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Small update:

The car will be displayed with the wheels off... So i coudn't leave this as it was:

After drilling manny holes... lost count...

Inverted the bolts and made sure the brake discs still fit in the air inlets.
Primed, gloss black is next and then alclad time...

Small update but hope this keeps you guys interrested

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Oh, yes, I am still very much interested. Good idea to reverse the bolts.

You might like to consider painting the edge of the brake discs a different tone of grey (different with respect to the brake surface) as an indication of wear?

Kind regards,
Bill

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Small update, brakes installed and wired...

Brakes not painted 100% like references... but i think they look ok, at least for a 1/20...
Started to sand the molded in seatbelts away, because they will be replaced with PE...

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Seat and seatbelts installed... Wanted to give the seat a textured look... Just the steeringwheel and display left and the front end of the car is ready. (btw i know that one of the PE parts is wrong placed, i've noticed it when everything was glued... After that its time for the engine...

Added a piece of tube to simulate a steering rod (is this the right word?) I'm from belgium so my english isnt that good

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b

Engine in place... Just missing some small pieces, they'll will be placed tomorrow. Also extra wiring will be done then
Exhaust is weathered with tamiya weathering kit, just used the gold and not the blue.

Tires in place, just for the pic:

Thats it... So let the comments come
