Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

Beautiful painting. The color combination really makes it happen. Maybe some chrome on those wheels or body color to make them POP?

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

Great recovery on the painting !!!

Very nice job. Kris, may I suggest you to gently mill the taillights seats for a better fit of the two clear parts?

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

Yesterday I polished the body.

Started with 3600 and ended with 12000 grid. A few polishingcompounds and some carwax and this is the result:

For this picture I had to do my hair

The color is very hard to photograph, so I'll take some outdoor pics to see the great shine on the paint.

Kris.

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

Not interesting enough? I know it's not a **** (censored) drifter, but some reaction would be nice... :-?

Alright, today I did some work on the chassis.

First I painted the shocks and the driveshafts:

Than painted the subframes and wheatered them.

Some chassiscovers also wheatered.

Painted the exhaust silver, and used some Tamiya make-up for the heatings.

The chassis was already painted flat black. Yesterday I painted the engine, and today I wheatered the whole chassis.

The wheels looks nice but they are missing something. I thought about painted the trim with polished aluminium, just like the original wheels. This is an option on the real wheels as well. So I painted them with Humbrol Metalizer paint. When they are dry enough I have to rub it with some cloth for more shine.

I also placed the numberplates. First I painted the numberplates white. After all I clearcoated them.

From Mdo227 I got the missing headlight. Unfortunatly I found the missing headlight

I also placed the clearparts. For the Porsche logo I used a 3D decal from HobbyDesign.

The sidemirrors got some black paint.

The black gluetrims around the windows are also painted. And I glued them inside the body.

Now it's time to finish the chassis and maybe lower it somewhat.

I also will start on the interior, but I really don't know what color I'm gonna use. I think I will use a red color with alu and black :?:

Kris.

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

Nice work! I would have painted the signals gray instead of orange. Only the early 996s had orange indicators.

The weathering on the chassis and it's sub-assemblies is impressive!

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

It is a great looking car Kris, A ruby red interior with dark grey would be a nice combination

Re: Porsche 911 Carrera

It's coming along nicely!

Count 1 vote to the red/alu/black combo for the interior!

A question: is there any chance you could put some bigger diameter tires on the rear? I think that would improve the look of it!

The rear tyres are a bit wider than the front tyres. Look at the pic with the wheels close up, and you'll see.

Thanks

Kris.

TS-17 is also a nice silver color, but slightly brighter than Mica Silver. I think Mica Silver is nicer, but the choise is yours. I also added Pearl Clear on the Mica Silver paint.
