Do you think there is any truth in this?
Perhaps or perhaps not. What I can tell you that 56XPGT has always been Green and never Black. Only the interior has been re-done to my knowledge.

Also, none of the photos they have on their website show 54F1GT.

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

Hi, I used to be on this site as 'diecastmaniac1994' (asking stupid questions that I could have found on some of the older pages with a little spare time)but I redid my youtube page and got back in to the car scene. I wanted to bring up the performance aspects of the GT.
Does Anybody have a spec sheet that details power output, torque, 0-60, all that?
And also, does anybody know the GT's top speed? Just looking at the car you would assume it's more aerodynamic.

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

about the black GT - 54f1gt - Don't we have at least two photos of that? The one hurstg01 posted PLUS one in the same location at a similar time to the pic in Peloton's avatar.
[edit - even better, here it is:]

now i know from time to time there has been speculation re photos of 56 looking like 54, the whole green/black thing, but SURELY this is black - how could this be green at all???!!! the only thing is tho... the interior doesn't look like that in the 54 photo hurstg01 posted. are we sure that's 54? what's the history behind the shot? in brunei?
thanks

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

The car in the set of 6 is most definitely without any doubt 56XPGT. If I still had any doubts I wouldn't be so firm in my rebuttal. For starters, you've found what is probably the darkest version of that image available, so that alone is going to rob a lot of the color detail.

The entire F1 GT brochure was shot using the prototype and in almost all but maybe two or three photos, the exterior color appears to be black. XP5 is sometimes the same way with it's green color.

The only decent photo of 54F1GT that we have is the one you are referencing and it was shared by one of the former Brunei mechanics on FerrariChat.com along with a few other photos of Brunei specials, including one of the images we have of #008, the cobalt blue road car. We are as sure as we can be, I think, that it is 54F1GT.

This is a larger version of my Avatar image, and the car almost looks green in this shot, but still not very much. I assure you it was the prototype though.

Also, these are both images of the second interior fitted to 56XPGT, and you'll see it is a match to the GT in the overhead shot of six.

Just look at the roof of the car where the flash isn't hitting - black as night if you ask me. I think the Silverstone Green they painted 56XPGT is just one of those colors with a lot of depth that needs really bright light in order to bring out the intensity of its hue.

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

So the tree 1997 GT's were made same manual gearbox than the an orginal roadcar? Not the sequential gearbox which is seen on the GTR racers?

Correct Sami - only the longtail GTRs had the Xtrac sequential box.

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

Peloton - I just had another look and damn! I can definitely see a tinge of green in there! I knew about the whole GT green/black thing, but just looking at that picture originally it did look very black. Altho I too noticed the interior and thought - Oh . Just thought it was worth a try . The GTs hold such an aire of mystery and intrigue to me.
Thankyou so much for the link to the brochure!!!!!!!! I didn't know it was in circulation on the net! Any higher quality or more straight-on scans/photos? So is this where a lot of the shots on the net of GTs come from - photoshopped scans/photos of this? and damn! - there's even some new shots in there. I am a very happy chappy . Thankyou. opcorn:
Do you have a lighter/higher quality version of the shot of all 6 variants (with the...... black?..... GT in it - ) haha
Thankyou very much

Re: Want to learn more about the GTs - Pictures particularly

That's the best version of the F1 GT brochure in digital form that I have seen. Someone else here offered it up in here quite a while ago. I seem to recall it is missing a page or two as well.

I own the hardcopy of the brochure and could eventually put together a better digital representation of it. Some of the photos it contains have never been in wide circulation. It's a very special item for GT lovers.

I do have a fairly high quality shot of the set of 6 and I'll post it later. It doesn't make the GT look any greener though.
