You obviously have never driven a more recent police Crown Vic. They rate the HP at 250 the same as the civ version but they are bumped up through the computer. Most of the ones that I get and have right now were never turned back down and they are very fast. The new Chargers say that their V6 can do the same as the Vics V8 but from experience with police cars I have learned that that is not true. They are slower and the engines tend to blow more often. Crown Vics handle better than many cars at high speeds too. As for how they look, that depends on the persons taste of course. In my mind I can understand not going crazy over it but if you hate the way it looks I really don't understand you. Ha, just like the way I don't understand punks that try to race me with their ugly little tuned up Civics. Personally if I had the money I would buy a Charger SRT8 with 425 HP and juice it up to 500 HP. That would be a nice ride.

Personally I like the Mercury Marauder a bit more aesthetically, there is a guy who lives nearby me with a modified one, it sounds really nice. Maybe you should learn to drive before you get behind the wheel of something fast

Re: Good car for a teen ?

hey, I think a great car for you would be a honda CRX, sporty, fast, and cheap (I've seen them around for 1k and less all the time) but you just have to be sure to get the right year if you want automatic drive

Consider a retired FBI car 2000-2003 Ford Taurus.

They are cheap + theres a graveyard of parts.

Just like the one in drivers education class!

Re: Good car for a teen ?

Jaguars are expensive to repair and the parts are hard to get. Most aftermarket scan tools cannot read the data stream from a Jaguar. You have to go to the dealer to get the codes read.Only one that will read them is the Snap On Motis is the only aftermarket that can. They have electrical problems and most British cars are this way.The Jaguars have two fuel pumps,a secondary and a primary which you cannot tell which one is bad without testing them.A crank sensor for them is $350.00.Avoid a taurus with the Duratec engine and get one with the vulcan engine(8th Vin U)

Re: Good car for a teen ?

THere is no such thing as a $1,000.00 and below car anymore. Most yards bought them for crush, running or not runnning. Most of of them are a big POS and not worth driving.

How about a Volvo 850R? Safe and 240HP. or maybe a mid 90s BMW 318i (inline 4, and cheaper than inline 6 ones).

Re: Good car for a teen ?

Price the parts for an import car,EXPENSIVE!A headgasket set for a 2002 Volkswagon Jetta with the V6 is $286.00.Look under the hood of late 1970s Jaguars,do not have the original engine replaced with a 350 Chevy which there are conversion kits to do this

Re: Good car for a teen ?

I would suggest not buying an expensive car for your first car . Until you get more experience driving , you may have fender-benders , etc. and you wouldn't want to do that to an expensive car . Get you a cheap car and get your experience then later move up to that more desirable vehicle . As for the ex-police Crown Vic's not being powerful , I have to disagree ! You seldom see anyone outrun them ! Of course , the old " two-way " radio helps immensely . But still , they will RUN....! If you don't believe it , try whatever you drive against the " men in blue " and their Crown Vic's and I think you may have a change of heart and opinion as well !
