Re: Oooo K...I lost to a SOLARA!
Solaras are FWD.
Camry and Solara are two totally different cars. The Camry did not switch to the Solara name or anything. The Solara is just simply a sportier 2-door grocery getter from the camry's roots Toyota does not put TRD emblems on their cars. The Toyota trucks are the only ones that came with TRD emblems and vinyls from the factory. The Solara does not come supercharged from the factory. The owner has the option to add a TRD supercharger, just like Scion TC owners have the option for a S/C as well. (TRD superchargers are warrantied if installed by Toyota techs) My sister has a newer (2004) V6 Solara, those came with the whole package, VVT-I, front strut bar, grounding kit, 17" wheels, better suspension. And stock, it pulls just as hard as my car, and i run 14s. |

Re: Oooo K...I lost to a SOLARA!
Yeah, I know well WHAT they are, just didn't know the specs on the TRD-kitted (supercharged) Solaras. It was clearly not N/A.
Catchy title aside, I didn't "own" myself, nor did he "own" me. But quite frankly, I'm not going to sit here and type every little nuance so you all understand every little detail. I just wanted to see if I could catch up to these guys, as the Solara was on the gas (racing an Acura) as he passed me. I closed the gap some, until I ran out of gear and he walked. In my book, closing distance on a car that had a running head start isn't "getting owned." I was just testing my machine against another machine. Has nothing to do with whether or not he knew I was "racing" him (though, it IS pretty obvious when you see a car duck behind you, then the headlights jump upward when the driver hits WOT...so unless you're a retard, you know the guy is trying to catch up to you). ![]() Road test on a Gen1 TRD Solara, the stock kit runs 4psi... http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...ara/index.html This was a 2nd Gen car (3.3L V6, 225hp/240tq stock)...not sure how much more power they make with the S/C than the Gen1. They seem to have quite a cult following among owners...not sure why, I think they're kinda fugly. I dunno. Anyhow...new toys going on the Volvo next week. Big thing is a new intercooler. I'll test them out and bring a video camera if I get the chance.

Honestly: "OMG I tried to catch this guy that flew by, I stopped his pull but ran out of gear then lost". I mean, really? You made yourself look like the one who lost. Nobody else here did. Don't get your panties in a bunch if someone comes along and decides to make some humor out of it. And around here, it will happen alot. Roll with the punches and you'll be fine. Snap back at the first person to do it, and you'll find yourself disliked and removed rather quickly. Mkay pumpkin? Quote:
You seem like a level headed person. Take what I said as more of a father to son talk (even though it isn't). Just apply that to your state of mind when you are visiting here. Everything should be OK from here on in... |

Re: Oooo K...I lost to a SOLARA!
lol...ok. But I think you're taking this just a little too seriously.
![]() And don't worry, I'm not "the new kid." I do hold a NASA racing license, and I used to race 944 Spec. If I'm going to do any "real" racing, it's not gonna be posted here! Though I haven't had a 944 in 3 years. ![]() Who knows, maybe I'll build the 928 up to race again. Not even sure what class I'd run in with that thing. But if I'm getting midnight dissertations on a writeup about a ~10 second freeway sprint in my daily driver - no matter WHAT I typed or how I worded it - then someone needs to reach down and pull their panties out of their crack. ![]() Sorry about the Civic crack, BTW. Haha. What are you driving now?

Nah, Civ is just the moderator who comes in once a month, closes two threads, and gets in a couple debates to make it look like he is still doing his job as a moderator.

![]() To be honest, I'm on nearly every other day. I just don't post every dumb thought that enters my mind. Sometimes I just read. That's why I have the Red Dot of doom so nobody knows when I will STRIKE! Anyway, L8 Apeks, I no way was my post in any way serious. It was me just giving you some advice, but in a more stern way. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter to me what type of card you may hold as a driver, you're still posting here on AF. That makes you as equal as everyone else here. Other than the Mods, who are pretty much supreme to all. Mwahhahahaa... That aside, I'm not driving anything in particular. Got myself an old Chevy done up simple. Posted pics a while back, who knows where I put them. I'll have to track down that page I posted them in. |

but damn, is that funny. We actually discussed making fun of our own cars not too long ago.. Blown Cavalier FTW.. But thats the thing about the Racing section. Unlike most of the other sections, we have the big colorful signatures and avatars, and personalities to match. We make fun of each other around here, and enjoy every second of it. Its nothing personal, as most of us really dont even know each other. But there are groups of three or four who live near each other and are friends, which makes this experience all the better. I post pretty much anything that pops into my damn head. But Civ does like to wave his ban stick around

Re: Oooo K...I lost to a SOLARA!
Those Solara's are quite peppy cars. I test drove one for a friend when he was car shopping (5spd and he didn't know how to drive stick at the time), I was quite shocked how quick the car was. I don't think it was supercharged either, just a base model. It looked just like that one in your link, probably was a 99 or 2000 model. I hated the clutch though, toyota's have such a light clutch it feels like a toy car.
