Hi all, thanks for the support!
It was a challenging project to undertake at first. Because of the similarities of the MK3 Golf and the Jetta, all that was required was to add a trunk. The testing part was sawing off the Golf trunk, then shaping the rear window surround to represent the Jetta. Next, as you can see from the first picture was to bring the length of the trunk upto the correct length of a Jetta. This was done using strips of sheet styrene, following the contours of the body. When this all dried, I offered up the modified Golf rear. Next stage was to use Milliput clay to make up the panels and roughly shape it using water and paint brush to roughly contours of the bodywork. Waiting for it to harden took 1-2 days, and it was very difficult to sand. The problem with doing such a conversion is that the chassis and interior will also have to be taken into consideration. More pics soon, I hope |

MaxSE, for the rear lights, I'm gonna use the Golf lights for the corners. I'll obviously cut them up first. For the rest, it's a simple scratch build from clear sheet styrene. It involves cutting the correct shape, then using a sharp, fresh blade, score the inside of the lense evenly (to represent the reflectors). Once painted, you won't know the difference.
I've tried it before when I made a model of a Mk1 MR2 for my friend and converted it from a Japanese version to a Euro version. |
