thanks for the info. another question then, b/c my 98 4runner limited didnt come with the security system RS3000 does that meen it didnt come with keyless entry at all? if so then do I either have to purchase an entire aftermarket keyless entry system or the factory RS3000 system from Toyota? thanks for the help!!! greatly appreciated!

The 98 only had the RS3000 system, where the 99 remote with the sliding window button is for the Toyota factory system.
