Well, it’s nice to see such interest in this model thread.
Hope it correspond to your expectations.

Didn’t know that detail huudo. In any case from the beginning I have chosen the 63 car version becausen I like it more with the yellow mirrors.

Here is a current status of the project. The body is ready to receive the (not much) decals and then will rest for some days before I apply the clear coat. I’m also finishing the chassis so I can start connecting the engine and cockpit parts in which I’m already working.

Well, after several weeks without any progress here is the status of this project. The front section of the Sauber C9 is completed.
No major problem during this phase and it looks like it will turn out a great model.
Unfortunately I ruined the engine-cover decal saying “Mercedes-Benz V8” so I will have to try to order a complete sheet so I can finish this one. If someone have build this model with a different colour scheme and have this spare decal please contact me.

I m sorry I can't help you build this great model, but as you said it so humbly : looks like it will turn out a great model.
That is an understatement!

Looking good. That decal should be pretty easy to make with a computer and inkjet decal paper.

Did you use Gundam markers for the panel lines?

BTW, it's looking real good!

This is a good example of why I love GTP/Group C cars. You're doing great, Gainsbourg.

I'll keep you in mind when mine arrives from eBay.

Huudo have made me a great favour in sending me the engine-cover decal that I have destroyed so let’s back to work.

I have completed the first stage of the engine construction. I have thought a lot if I was going to do some detailing process on this one like I did in the Mazda but I decided not to do it now. Maybe later.
This process was made without a single problem. I used some paint techniques like the dry brush and washes in order to give a more realistic look to the engine instead of it looks just like some plastic parts uniformly painted.
More progresses to come.

looking very nice so far- i think you should go for it on the engine detailing though, it really brings it to life, plus its an easy on to do cos of the brilliant tamiya box art. I just put as many of the wires on as i could (plug leads, brake lines, wires from turbos to heads, etc) and it didnt take too long.
BTW, im doing the 61 car now, and have modded to front end. I'll post some pics up tonight in my thread once ive finished saning the filler down (again . . . )
Oh, and i found that although useless for windows, a wash of tamiya x19 smoke around the engine block really brings out the detail it gives it an amazing "oily" effect making the engine look like its been used.

Indeed it is. X-19 is the ultimate 'detail-lifter'

Good to see you back on the C9 Gains.

This one is also practically 99% done so is time to close one more progress thread.

Another great model to work on and I’m really pleased with the final result.
Again many thanks to all that followed this thread and a special thanks to huudo.
New projects to be started soon.

When you will be done can you post some pictures of the engine bay and interior?

Thanks!
