Re: Anyone put a 96-00 center console in their 4th gen?

Since I wanted to put a GSR cluster in my car... I've been trying to find anyone that shows a walkthrough on it... can't find shit other than the wiring part... I haven't been able to find anyone that shows what to do to mount it... and you KNOW it doesn't use the stock mounting tabs.

You have to take them out. the whole tab part. and it just sits in place under the cowl. You can pack stuff on top of it to secure it. ive seen the writeup but I cant find it. Thats for a DA cluster, im pretty sure for the later ones you have to cut the mounts off entirely.

ew... I'm not cool w/ that... free-floating cluster thing. I'd have to find a way to secure it... but then again, I dunno if I'll ever actually do it or not... I was also considering just taking the gauge cluster out entirely and making my own w/ a plate and a 5" tach, 5" speedo, etc.

Re: Anyone put a 96-00 center console in their 4th gen?

as far as placement, there is a fine line between "ew" and "whoa"

Stock placement never works out... you have to modify the gauges to make it look good... use a black plexi or painted aluminum plate, remove the bezels from the gauges, mount them flush.

when you place them in the cluster, remember to put the clear plastic stock cover back over them.

I've seen a few diff types of this setup, and some I liked, some I didn't... placement is key in this.
