HELLLZ YA!!!! i love "Pirates of Silicon Valley" sounds like a porno but its just as informative!!! I have the VHS man is it ageing i wish there was a DVD version!!! but ya Bill Gates is GOD!!! Yes the force is stong with in this one!! PPL can talk all the smack they want about Gates and it wont mater because he out smarted and out witted everyone that matters!! I do have to somewhat agree with the fact that it isnt HARD EARNED but hey i dont know about you but you have to do some work to keep a multi billion dollar company afloat. And Dubbya is 3 oranges and an apple short in brain power compared to Bill Gates!!!

Yes I watched that when it first aired......geezz....like light years ago it seems. Enjoyed it of course(just like any computer dork like all of us would). I was also "forced" to read a book about Bill Gates my senior year of H.S., but what book are you not "forced to read in high school. Anyways, I liked the book actually as well, quite interesting. And I hope to learn Linux soon myself, and would some day when I have the funds get a Mac just to mess around with.

Pirates was O.K. but it's also missing alot of context that makes it so amazing that Bill Gates got such a major opportunity, and others like Gary Kildall (the OS king of the early 80's) or Chuck Peddle relatively obscure figures in computer history.
Like I wrote, how Bill became so rich is not really something he did all by himself, in fact I'd even say that it happened by accident, it's not like he had actually planned most of it to happen.

No one that is rich or gets rich does it on their own. There is always going to be someone to help them in some way or another. No one can start a business on their own without talking to other peoples, getting opionions and even having help with misc. things, I know personally.

Bill gates is the only one who knows the codes for the MS OS- whereas Linux openly give out the codes- so if MS fucks up- no-one can re-write it- if Linux does- then it is easily fixed by someone who knows thier stuff


I run XP- but only because Linux is impossible to find over here .

I am all for it , how will we go about such a plan? Oh yes I have already thought of the best way to destroy all the other camaro's we will move them here to the Outer Banks of North Carolina , never wax or wash them and then they will rust away to Nothing !!! Then I will buy all the remaining pinto's and corvairs on the road and after I have aquired all 17 of them , I will do the same !!! I will ram the corvairs into the rear of the pinto's , we could use them as Mega-Car Bombs hehe. Maybe use them to take over the world !!!

i've personally met bill gates, he's a very normal down to earth guy.. who just happens to be the richest person ever..
i know many people who work at microsoft, including my uncle...
now i don't wanna get off on a rant here but..

1. microsoft was started by a lot of people, not bill gates.. he just happened to take charge of things seeing he put up most of the original money to fund it, and was the business genius.
2. he did work hard for what he has.. sure it's not hard like , logging in canada for a living, but starting a company from scratch with a few buddies, and turing it into the most profitable company ever.. i don't see how that doesn't denote hard work.
3. the simply fact is.. 99% of all people who hate or bash or flame bill gates, support him while they do it..
i'm using windows right now.. guess who owns it..
anyone else out there using windows, dos, or apple??? i'm sure there are a few..
4. computers are a seriously hard thing to work with.. i don't think people really understand how hard it is.. i'm familiar with 9 different programming languages, i know how tough it is to get a computer to do what ya want.. bill gates is a genius, but he knew one thing that everyone else couldn't figure out how to take advantage of..
there's one born every min.... this world is full of stupid people.. i'm sure all of you know someone who is stupid.. i'm sure some of you even think i am stupid.. fine by me.. but he took a company, a group of guys and took something as complicated as computers and made them simple for all us stupid people.. i'm more than sure, if 99% of the people using windows were all of a sudden one day forced to use unix, or linux, they would sit there and bitch and wonder where their precious start button is..
5. bill gates does give to charity.. a lot, in his own money as well as in form from microsoft.. , microsoft also produces software for hospitals, science labs, school, companies.. microsoft makes the software, that makes most of this world turn... if it wasn't for microsoft most of us would never have any clue what the internet was..
and in response to the giving to 3rd world countries..
give a bum $5, what does he do ? buy some food, or alcohol..
give a bum $5 million , what does he do ? invest, buy a home, start a family, manage his money.. not sure about that.. the problem with 3rd world countries is.. a few things..
A: their government, some countries are still ruled by some guy with a gun..
B: their location, some countries are just in a crappy spot.. there is no reason to vacation there so no tourists, they have no oil, minerals, or valuable exports so they cannot make money with trade..
C: their land does not support the growing of crops.. it's easy for us in the USA to sit and complain.. we have billions of pounds of food available to us all the time, at least most of us.. well some countries have sand.. and that's it..
so you can give a 3rd world country all the money you want.. it won't help in the long run.. quick fixes never work..
the problem is they need direction, support and help.. not money..
besides.. who the hell is bill gates to give billions to another country.. so you can later accuse him of buying a country.. which by the way.. asset wise he could buy about 25% the countries on earth.. lol..
6. now let's talk about why you wanna go help people in other countries when we have millions of homeless and hungry right here in our own country.. , in fact there is a homeless guy sleeping on a bus station bench just around the corner from my place.. now i agree ya can't just give them money per my example above.. but if your gonna start tossin money away.. let's help our own first..
bill gates is not the root of all evil.. we are the root of all evil.. US citizens as consumers.. we have made america a consumeristic upotia... everything in this country is about making money..
you'll note the www.aspecmotorsports.com banner that i see above on this very site.. everyone is here to make money.. that is what makes our values so shallow and cheap..
that is what makes bill gates able to take over so quickly and massively.. .. shallow society, and stupid people..
