Re: Sigh...Jetta on life support

okay well i found out how much the parts will cost me if I need to replace them, the total for the parts is going to cost around 600-800 depending how many valves and heads are damaged. Thankfully im not going to be charged for labor since my uncle is going to do the work at the shop he works at. still a freaking big chunk out of my pocket though. I'm going to kick that car in the exhaust when it gets repaired :sigh:

Oh and for the VW the service manual says change the timing belt at 105k miles, what they dont tell you is to change the belt tensioner before then because it goes bad at 70k miles and eats away at the timing belt eventually snapping it earlier than when its supposed to go bad.

Yeah, two timing belts at roughly the same time. Seems very odd.

Sucks to hear that man. For a replacement I would suggest used M3.

In all honesty im not a big BMW fan, I like the power but I dont like the car too much. Plus its too expensive even for a used one, though I know you were joking

Well you can get early 2000 models for under $20k right now, plus you can turbo charge them.

In all honesty though. I'm liking the Altima Coupe, the new Maxima is looking good, and I really do like the Mazda 3 Speed. You could always get a used S4 as well.

Re: Sigh...Jetta on life support

aint that a bitch. come back from a vacation and then another timing belt? must be bad timing. (ha, that was a really bad joke).

hopefully the jetta will keep its cool for a bit after its fixed, as i remember it driving you nutz trying to find a boost leak and the such before.

and onto carpooling with the rx-8, city mpg is rated 16....thats not exactly the best thing. find a 4 cyclinder beater man .

One problem, I believe his engine is an interference.

Re: Sigh...Jetta on life support

i havent had boost leaks in the car, ive had rough idle but that was usually solved by replacing spark plugs and checking to make sure the battery was connected properly
