They're not the same if you're talkin about specs. B18b has more tq and hp.

Since when is the DOHC ZC torqueless? It doesent have as much as the B18b I will give you that... But it has alot more than the B16 and when you mod it you get ALOT more torque... Unlike MOST of the B seires Vtec family your torque will pretty much move up about the same as your HP when you MOD it.

i have both motors they are night an day

88 hb dx with a 91 b18a an a 93 cx with a b16a2

an the b16a2 in my 93 hb cx is the faster car all out speed i thought the same thing i wanted the torque so i git the b18a

the way i look at it torque is only good for starting the race it dont matter how fast u start the race its how fast u end it belive me the b18a doesnt pull at high speeds like the b16a2. the b16 will suck the b18 up

also if u cant get the job down by the end of 3rd gear in the b18a forget it you lost so that means your shifting has to be on point an the wheelspin has to be to a min. if you blow the start in a b18a your done you have to take the b16a from the line

an for the guys betting b16's with zc's the funny things bout the b16's from japan or any other jdm motor you never no what is done to the motor when you get them some have head work & etc some have been dogged some are fresh motor. its hard to tell when your looking at the motor on a pallet.so your going to run across some dogged out slow as b16's b18's an etc.

just my 2 cents

P.s i like driving the b18a more than b16 an sorry for all the bad grammer

Ok? How much tq does the zc have? Last time i check it was around 107. It doesn't have more than b16.

True! The head on my DOHC ZC is milled at leasr 2MM or so... Pluss I have been lookin at thw bowl and it dont look like any kinda stock... Its got verry sharp edges that curve out from the valves rdicaly... Its not a stock head, I know that for a fact!

on the obd1 and 2 subject you run the 18b of the 91 ecu and you have you obd2. the comp hooks right to your plug a and you do the same wiring mods as the 18a. trust me i have done it. the blocks are the same. and all the same sensor. and when you change the ecu that is why you change the map so they match. you can get b18b1 for cheap i got mine for 500 from a junkyard. 95 with 70,000 miles but it is completely rebuilt from the bottom up but it was in great shape

To clarify the specs:

90-91 b18a: obd0 - 130hp
92-93 b18a: obd1 - 140hp
94-95 b18b: obd1 - 140hp
96-on b18b: obd2 - 140hp

So best bet would be to go with the 92-93 b18a........
