I picked up a cup holder for my plymouth that can hold a full 2 liter... on either side! it ran me $8, I got it at autozone, but this thing is so huge the only place that it could even be mounted in a civic is in the pass. side floorboard.

Don't know if your cars have an available DIN slot. My 94 Infiniti G20 had an available DIN slot with a dumb cubby in it, and no cupholders whatsoever, so I bought a std. DIN cupholder/change holder unit off eBay. It fit with a modification to the mounting bracket. Doesn't hold big cups, but it holds soda cans, and the change holder part is excellent.
Here's the Taurus/Saab unit I mounted in my G20 Here's the aforementioned Octopus unit, I ran across it while searching for the other one.  If you don't like that unit, try going to junkyards and looking for a good DIN unit that'll fit. Shouldn't run more than $15-20. Of course that's assuming that there's a free DIN slot...my Sentra had one and so does my G, but I don't know about all y'alls Civics.

I usually buy bottled drinks so i stuff them between my seatbelt (where it clips in) and my side. Another trick is between the hand brake and the seat bottom!
